We worked in a team to complete this assignment. Every team member has taken equal part and completed the tasks which were assigned to them. I also completed my tasks. In this report I will write my viewpoints and what I learned from this assignment. We had to design various UML diagrams for The Tourist Information Centre. We started this system development process from analyzing the system. We then decided for the entities and classified the information required to complete certain tasks of UML diagrams. In this report I will discuss different aspects of UML development. I will present reflection in the context of different diagrams. Value of Data Flow Diagram Data flow diagram is a very good way to offer a deep and detailed analysis of system functions processes and functions. This diagram offers a comprehensive analysis of some of the major areas and aspects of the system interactions and communications among system entities and database. Basically, data flow diagram is an excellent way of showing a system at any level of detail with a graphic network of symbols demonstrating data flows, data stores, data processes, and data sources/destinations[Ken97]. This assignment has helped me to understand the some of the basic techniques of system design and development. I have learned about one of the essential tools for the system development that is known is data flow diagram. As discussed above, it is used to identify the flows of data from one entity to another. This flow is demonstrated using arrows. These arrows help us understand from where data is coming, where it will be processes and where it will be stored. This is an excellent way to understand the system’s working. In addition, the data flow diagrams are used to build a semantic bridge between system developers and system users. Data Flow Interpretation Data Flow Diagrams are a way to offer a comprehensive analysis of system communication and mutual interaction among entities and functions. This diagram offers a comprehensive overview of different functions and processing of outside operational requests. As we have discussed above, data flow diagrams offer an excellent way for understanding the flows of data and information from one entity to another. It is very useful in identifying what functions will be performed on certain data. For instance, if a data is flowing from the customer towards support officer then it will be like customer’s information, their name and other details need to guide them. In this scenario, the customer support officer will process this information and store it in the database. This diagram helps us understand at which location data will be processed and stored. Interpretation Entity Relationship Diagram In this diagram we have developed ERD that shows different system entities and objects. This diagram shows a comprehensive analysis of different relationships among system entities and objects and major relations among them. This diagram is used to connect different entities of the system and how these entities are connected with each other. This diagram also shows the attributes of each entity. For instance, in our system’s ER diagram, client can do many bookings with our system. These diagrams are very useful in understanding the relationships on the basis of their types for instance, whether it is one to many, many to many or many to one. On the basis of these diagrams system development becomes a very easy task. We use an ER diagram when our system involves the development of a database. And it requires a development of a database for storing data. How our team organized itself Our team has planned each phase of the system design. Here we have established an enhanced plan for the sake of communicating each other. This project has planned a detailed areas and aspects regarding system processes and aspects. First of all, we developed a mind map to decide what the major operations of our system are and what their other tasks are. We chosen a team leader whose duty was to manage the overall project and keep an eye on the progress of the tasks. The team leader assigned the tasks to each group member and monitored the progress of each task. He ensured the regular meetings to exchange the work progress with each other. Every group member discussed their ideas and problems in the team meetings. Interpretation of Domain Model Diagram Domain Model Diagrams are the foundation of object-oriented design as well as analysis. Object-oriented analysis and design is the principal industry-proven methodology that answers the call for a more cost-effective, faster way to develop software and systems. Basically, the object-oriented technology helps software development teams to develop software applications in minimum amount of time. As it reduces development time and overhead, which ultimately leads to quicker time to market and considerable competitive edge, allowing software development team to create more elastic and without problems maintainable applications[Rak10]. In addition, the basic objective of object oriented analysis is to produce software design models that convince the software requirements. In this scenario, the object oriented analysis helps software development teams build diagrams of the software system that is going to be built. Additionally, it encompasses a wide variety of models such as classes, objects and interaction between objects. On the other hand, the Object Oriented Design is used to convert the Object Oriented Analysis model into a design model, which facilitates software development teams to follow as an outline for the entire software construction.
