Article Review al affiliation Article Review “Know what really motivates you” is an article about the motivational factors of both employees and their bosses in a work environment. Written by Heidi Grant Halverson and e. Tory Higgins the article goes through the two different personality traitors and how they an organization can motivate them to perform better. The article further goes deep and explains how people that have different traits react to situations depending on their motivational factors.

The authors also introduce a new subtitle in between titled creating a motivational fit; the subsections takes the readers through the processes of understanding the people traits and creating an environment in which they can work best (Grant & Higgins, 2013). Further the article introduces us to a set of new authors who take the readers through a subsection titled when personalities don’t match. Through the pages, Andrew shows us the consequences of mismatching people with different personality traits in a working environment.

There are serious consequences when a boss of a given character works an employee from another personality trait (Grant & Higgins, 2013). As the authors take us through the article we see that the two characters go for different things in life and when put together, their worlds seem always to collide. Right to the article different people react differently to different circumstances. In an organization, there are incentives that employees receive as a method of attracting and retaining the best talent in the market.

Promotion-Focused people will go to organizations where they get rewards of promotions, say when one works hard enough and impresses the bosses they will make junior partners. The promotion focused will apply in such an environment and thrive when working to make sure that they get promoted (Grant & Higgins, 2013). On the other hand, the prevention-focused people are worrisome and take cautious steps. They will seek employment in organizations that provide insurance and pension schemes as an employee benefit.

Prevention focused look for incentives that secure their future, organizations that protect their needs and assure them that their future is bright. As the article puts it, people with such traits should be treated according to what motivates them the failure of which the organization can have the best talents who are not productive (Grant & Higgins, 2013). The article discusses relevant forces that affect all business environments. The most important attribute a manager can have understands his or her employees.

When one knows the kind of people they are dealing with they can get them best from them. Employees work best when motivated. Their motivation comes from different tasks that they carry out. A bright manager will give jobs to people that are equal to their abilities (Grant & Higgins, 2013). Matching tasks and skills create a competitive environment and once the employees achieve the objective they feel satisfied. When an organization advertises a job vacancy, it considers all the characteristic of the individual who can feel the post.

Particular spots in an organization need certain traits to f them. The article helps all human resources departments in an organization look at the most important factors to consider when hiring. In a manufacturing firm, there is a sales team. A case scenario where incentives work as the best motivational force is when an organization promises a bonus and a holiday trip for the employee that will make most sales. All the employees will do their best to win the gift as it is a personal achievement compared to when they are working for the usual salary without extras (Grant & Higgins, 2013).
