World of work silver-organizational awareness World of work silver-organizational awareness There is no doubt in it that, Jaguar Land Rover has already made its signature in the history of automobiles. It comes under UK’s largest premium automotive manufacturing business, and is leading worldwide. The company is best known for car manufacturers that specialize in four-wheel-drive vehicles. The company has merged and progressed in many ways, that today it has tremendously conquered the hearts of people, globally. JLR is largely supporting the new talent of fresh engineers (graduates), with multiple facilities around the globe. The employee scenario justifies this fact enough. Jaguar Land Over occupies around 29000 employees globally, whereas 26000 plus employees are already attached with its UK business. Beside this, Jaguar is also supporting 190,000 more employees, in relative to the suppliers, local businesses and dealerships. JLR has also won the most acquired job seeker goal in the year, 2013. (Jaguar Land Rover - Company information, 2014). Along with such golden history, JLR has enormously made its consistent position in the first six months of 2014 either followed by: 1. The company have stood out to be the strongest regarding its sales performance. It has retailed about 240,372 vehicles, up 14% year-on-year. 2. The year 2014 has benchmarked JLR, having to deliver the most amount vehicles as compared to the year, 2010. 3. It has sold 43,587 vehicles, which brings in the performance up 16% year-on-year. It also sells 196,785 vehicles year to date, which brings in 14% up year-on year. 4. In June 2014, JLR the total number retailed vehicles are 39,594, that brings in 17% up year-on-year. 5. When it comes to the export growth in 2014, JLR has been recognized through the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. JLR has been planning to invest circa 3.5bn pounds in its facilities and the products in the coming financial year to March 2015. Such kind of investments done on a large scale associating the support to the local communities encourages and motivates those young generation who are seeking jobs in an engineering field. (Jaguar Land Rover Reports strongest ever half year sales, 2014) I look forward to devote myself to the engineering sector of JLR, as a mechanical engineer. That is because, a mechanical engineer can not only cover the responsibilities of an automotive engineer, but it can also cover the job of fixing and designing the cars efficiently. A mechanical engineer is like the parent department in the field of engineering, because it deeply enhances the studies of working with multiple machines only. The role of a mechanical engineer also include the refining of automobile motors and its components, therefore a vehicle can easily pass the safety test before entering into the commercialization dilemma. A mechanical engineer’s skill can also be used in the calculation of cooling system for automobiles, required power for cars, the conducting & study of crash absorbing devices and dimensioning cars’ mechanical parts. Conclusively, the inside of an automobile can be handled by a mechanical engineer only. Automobile production business involves multi-billion dollars. My chosen sector with JLR, can be profitable both on my & company’s part. JLR is operating in European, Chinese and Asian automobile industry. With time the automobile industries are facing the more competitive situations. Similarly, JLR has faced many difficulties economically; the shutdown of 1 manufacturing plant in UK has been the outcome of it. The closing down of one of its sector has made numerous employees go unemployed (14000 employees were engaged with the shutdown sector). Currently, several external threats are yet being exercised by JLR, regarding to which the company is trying to reduce the cost where possible to deliver excellent services to its customers, simultaneously. The social image of JLR has also been affected, in context to its Freelander & Range Rover models coupled with luxury Jaguar models. The automobile world is recklessly moving forward with the support of new technologies, by bringing in the eco-friendly vehicles. JLR is still behind adapting the technology of eco-friendly vehicles. The company should strictly be looking forward for the adequate engineers to meet the required challenges, by working more on their R&D area. Today, the customers are massively driven by the new technologies. Generally, the businesses still not have the required an integrated physical mobile strategy to keep their customers engage. Similarly, JLR needs to break the new grounds by giving new personalized to keep its customers. The customer experience is rapidly evolving with technologies. They are surrounded with the endless choices and options. Lying back with old technology can be tremendously risky. If JLR does not plan to act quick enough to satisfy its customers, it’ll soon go to lose its customer’s trust and loyalty. Shutting down of a sector in UK, must be taken as a strong sample by JLR. I am certainly eager to join the company, to battle off the present challenges. (Pierini, 2008) JLR is trying to overcome its bad reputation by introducing its first petrol-electric hybrid supercar of 200mph, for the new movie of James Bond. It is also supplying 4X4 Range Rover and Land Rover as demanded for the latest big screen for the movie purpose. These cars are being built under the advance engineering facilities in England. Cars will be fitted with Jaguar’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine instead of hybrid. The fuel consumption of this latest car will be low along with carbon dioxide emissions, giving the competition to the Toyota Prius family car. It was expected to be built 250 of these cars by the year 2015. JLR’s models have always been high in demand, whether it’s been media business or local customers. JLR’s values, needs and the present customer demands are understandable. I also value their manufacturing strength in automobile, globally. My divine services and creative ideas could bring more profit and progress to Jaguar Land Rover. I am intended to raise JLR’s flag as high as I could. Being a mechanical engineer my goal would be to ensure that, every designed component meets it destined right specifications before the end product.
