Seven Habits of Effective People The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Covey is a formidable book that explores the essence of a transforming one’s mindset. It is a paradigm shift that enables individuals to comprehend the fundamental roles of interpreting things from multiple perspectives. Therefore, numerous significant lessons emanate from the text worth highlighting. For example, under independence of personal decisions enables human beings to develop proactive habits that are integral in taking responsibility.

This begins with self-discovery in terms of identifying the key tenets of character development such as life goals and values. Another important lesson with the book is its power to help people prioritize the most fundamental issues. Consequentially, this ensures that all activities are rightly implemented on time to infuse interdependence. It also assists people to think from a beneficial context whether it is happening in relationships or agreements. Long-term solution, therefore, is an instrumental that emerges from the habit of interdependence espoused by Covey in his book.

He notes that “Something urgent requires immediate attention, it’s usually visible, it presses on us, but may not have any bearing on our long-term goals (Covey 5).” Understanding is another significance that influences the way human beings relate with others to generate a positive feeling. It means one is bound to reciprocate with a listening ability that infuses a platform for love and teamwork. This also helps one to share new ideas toward synergizing what is learnt from another person.

Alternatively, the use of standards to gauge one’s continuous improvements is vital toward meeting goals and objectives. In other words, the goals should be sustainable, practical, and even realistic within the context of implementation. Assessment of progress also boosts growth, constant improvement and consistent progress in integrating new ideas and thoughts to instill renewal and personal freedom. Integration of life goals and values are also applicable in setting vision for my professional work with emphasis in establishing a clear destiny of success.

Likewise, it resonates with prioritization of the crucial issues if one is a manager and avoiding the pitfalls of mixing up urgent and important matters. Therefore, in my professional world, I would use the above habits in other different ways such as persuading employees to put more effort. According to Covey, independence is integral, and, therefore, in managing people, it increases productivity for the company. As a result, they employees own responsibility for their choices while improving on other critical areas (Covey 11).

Understanding in terms of listening to others is equally significant to me because it cultivates long-term relationships with clients, stakeholders, and sponsors to enhance an organization’s welfare. Judgment is also improved because one is refined both intellectually and emotionally while demonstrating emphatic values with a people-driven management. Overall, thinking is inculcated when people agree because the habits of courtesy, respect, and trust are within a common circle agitating for similar goals and objectives.

In people management, a non-written contract exists that binds employees and employers toward achieving wisdom, security, power, and most importantly, personal freedom. Work Cited Covey, Stephen. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. New York, NY: SAGE. 2010. Print.
