Blog Unit It has been said that experience is the best teacher. Sometimes the experiences that we go through in real life are not comparable in any way with theoretical aspects that are learnt in any classroom setting. Higher service diversity areas provide an opportunity for greater experiences. I yearned to get more experienced in the management of service industry in order to get the first-hand impression of what exactly happens. I visited three places, namely, a food chain, a retail store, and a massage center.

The Nandos (Parramatta) food chain was the first place I visited. There are a wide variety of foods and drinks that were served in this place. In order to evaluate their services, I had to sit down and have a meal. One aspect that caught my attention is the decency of premises together with the people that worked therein. The room was well ventilated with décor that covers the walls and sections of the roof. The place is not installed with fans, the natural air supply is sufficient to keep the place cool and habitable.

Human capital is maximally utilized at Nandos. The receptions were very welcoming; the waiters were decent, organized, and extremely courteous. As a good business practice, the management staffs were present to check on the running of the activities and interacted with the customers effectively. Despite the presence of the management staff, no one was being pushed, self-drive is the best descriptive word that can be used. In order to get a glimpse of the quality of food offered, I opted to have grilled chicken.

Looking around, I could not fail to trace mouth-watering delicacies served to the other customers. The chicken was fantastic. The eating environment just made food have a better appeal. The nicely dressed waiters passing by wearing branded uniform plus the nice soothing music playing in the background and very strong Wi-Fi connectivity made the place memorable. What a strategy to attract customers! The price to be charged was almost obvious. I did not expect anything less than what I found in the menu.

Actually, I had anticipated that the pricing would be much higher from the judgment made courtesy of the first impression. From Nandos, I headed to JB Hi-Fi Parramatta, a retail store. In the store, the attendants ensure they present the various products to the customers and ends up making a recommendation. They do not allow the customers to leave the store without providing discounts that ensure that they keep on shopping at the store. The attendants do not fail to explain in details the pricing and the workability of a choice good.

I remember having some substantial amount of time with an attendant explaining on the features of the latest smartphones in the market. I learnt a very important aspect from the way the retail store prices their commodities. Most of the products in the shelves were slightly expensive as compared to other retail stores. However, if the customer sought the help of the attendant they were able to get quality products at a price that is relatively lower than other retail stores. The ease of finding goods is eased by the input of the friendly attendants.

When I asked the attendant what I wanted, she accompanied me to where the product was and helped me make the right decision. Judging from the input of the attendants, they must have undergone some training for them to have the wealth of knowledge that they demonstrated when dealing with any type of product. The cashiers were equally courteous and were smartly dressed, they presented a good face of the shop. In addition, respect was highly evident across the board. At the store, there is a wide range of electronic devices that are sold.

This is what he shop specializes with. From the flow of customers into the store, one can easily predict that the store has a wide customer base. Having undergone through the customer service experience, I could easily tell that the store was distinguished. One of the attendants was swift to say that they gives discounts to their customers almost always. My third place was at the Thai Massage. This business has not developed much but it demonstrated substantial growth. One spectacular aspect that I loved is the extensive space that is provided for the customers to have a place to relax.

The staff was highly welcoming and very cooperative. Once into the massage room, we have multiple beds take into concern the needs of couples who would like to have the massage side by side. In the room, privacy is guaranteed. The humbleness of the center was clearly evident through the simplicity embraced. The massage was done in the traditional fashion with no much improvement. Despite the convectional way of massage, the experience was relieving and worthy. The walls were decently painted and attracted the customer and kept their eyes engaged while enjoying the massage.

One area that I faulted the Thai massage was in the way they priced their services. Despite being more inclined to the traditional way of doing massage, their prices were relatively high. The services given are up to standard but a regulation in price would probably attract more customers. However, the pricing as it is does not go overboard in exploiting the customers. The effectiveness of their advertising seems to be relatively good. I was able to relate to the place through a flyer that I found at home.

Getting to the Thai massage helped me confirm that what they presented in the flyer was actual. These three places provided spectacular experiences that helped me to see how business are run, and more importantly how they are able to overcome competitiveness. I could identify some of the differentiation strategies that the three businesses had adopted in order to be unique in their own capacity. Chief among the lessons from the experience is that loyalty is cultivated by the treatment given to customers by the staff.
