Starbucks organizational ethical behavior is a factor that is key for the success of the institution and commences with the top management downwards. The present CEO and head of the organization, expresses himself as “obsessive regarding communicating”. He is an extremely straight reflecting individual and this is entirely evidenced through his constant time management and keenness to facts. The deputy head of the institution worries about saving money and raising the baseline, however, not to the disadvantage of his employees. Whereas Starbucks is recognized for its cup of coffee, the organization wishes to have the capacity to supplement to that picture in the civic eye. Starbucks chairperson Schultz has regularly spoken concerning forming the coffee stalls to be like a place where people can move out of their residents and places of job to relax and reflect (Johnson, 2012). All in the atmosphere at Starbucks spreads out along calming, refreshing and stress relieving. This training and assessments help to curb irregularities and misbehaviors from the employees and clients. According to a consumer, the work at Starbucks could be simply dispensing coffee into a mug. Nevertheless, the work is demanding and quickly sped and maybe somehow risky due to the temperatures being operated at (Johnson, 2012). Starbucks has an extremely firm culture. It is ethical and consumer reactive. It is very obvious that Starbucks has true consumers who are fully contented with the service that they get. One thing with Starbucks is that they really attempt to go on top and further to ensure that their clients ideally feel that they are people with a name, and a favored drink or pie. They are mainly trying to equip their clients with knowledge on what they are consuming and various drinks that they may as well like. Majority of Starbucks customers is Americans of all status. They emerge from all monetary status, from doctors to construction employees, schoolteachers to house mums, and many more. These consumers are hardworking and simply aiming for an outing or maybe a rise in authority before a long day starts or maybe at the end of the long hectic day. Consumer service is very significant specifically in an enterprise such as Starbucks and the restaurant enterprise where consumers are mainly quick. The employees working in these places may not often be right, however, do not demonstrate such right before them. The notable inconsistency that exists in Starbucks is the failure to deliver the right order to consumers in the required state by the employees. This may arise due to poor listening skills or fatigue. This makes the customer sad and may end up opting to visit another shop instead to get the services required (Johnson, 2012). An ethical code is a classification of standards directing morality and tolerable behavior. Ethical codes help an organization achieve its goals and fulfill its mission statement accordingly. The ethical codes in Starbucks have the following strengths and weaknesses; Strengths Ethical code has enabled Starbucks to be: A chief supplier and roaster for product line coffee in the globe Recognized for offering the best brands and services Position seven in Fortune Magazines “100 suitable Organizations to be employed in” Provider of steady superior quality services Has a restricted number of tough rivals Has elevated market share and market development Weaknesses Ethical code has made Starbucks have the following weaknesses: To price their products and services highly due to the quality components applied while making them Failure to promise that milk, chocolate, drinks, ice cream, and baked products vended in the organization’s warehouses lack genetically modified components It is entirely located in the U.S- above three quarters of its shops are situated in the home market Lack of diversification to curb enterprise risk (Johnson, 2012) Ethical code is significant to any organization, including Starbucks and these are the reasons why ethical code is important to members of Starbucks; a. Ethical code is a supposed to be a core directive and reference for the members of Starbucks in support of daily decision-making. It is intended to elucidate an institution’s mission, standards, and values connecting them with principles of specialized behavior. As an orientation, it may be applied to find pertinent files, services and various resources associated with ethics inside the company. b. An ethical code is an open revelation of the manner in which an institution runs. It offers visible principles of conduct. A precisely scripted and thoughtful code in addition acts as a significant communication medium, which “reflects the agreement that an institution has vowed to sustain its major significant values, handling such issues as its dedication to workers, its principles for carrying out business, and its association with the society”. c. Ethical code is a tool to motivate debates of ethics and to enhance the way workers or members handles the ethical predicaments, injustices, and gray regions that are faced with daily job. An ethical code is supposed to balance significant principles, rules, and regulations, and not to replace them. d. An ethical code provides a precious chance for accountable institutions to form an optimistic civic uniqueness for them that may contribute to a further helpful political and authoritarian atmosphere and a raised degree of civic self-belief and faith amidst significant divisions and stakeholders (Johnson, 2012). There are various ways through which Starbucks can improve its ethical code, which include; a. Empowerment A major step in enhancing ethical code of Starbucks Company is to provide extra power to workers over their job. When workers have an ethical code and extra power over their job results, they are probable to substantiate the faith of the organization in them to make the correct decisions. Empowerment may as well provide presentable outcomes for workers, like extra innovative solutions to enterprise challenges, if executed efficiently. Provide workers a reason to behave extra ethically and to be extra creative, like keeping their independence over their job and the organization’s effectiveness will rise as well. b. Communication Advance the organization’s policies and regulations so as to allow data to run more efficiently and regularly between workers and the top management.
