A Report of General Motors Company Organizations need proper systems in order to attain their goals. All levels of management withinan organization require a well-formulated system. Common goals in an organization can only see the light of the day if proper systems are affected. Top management level has the mandate of making sure that all the departments within an organization follow laid down rules and regulations. Developing viable systems requires well-informed and experienced teamwork dedicated to achieve common goal. This paper will discuss the challenges facing General Motors Company and how this company can overcome such problems and find the best way forward. As a consultant, the company has delegated this duty to me together with taskforce, which will oversee the whole project. General Motors Company is an international automobile carmaker, which operates globally. This company started its operations more than one hundred years ago. This company is facing stiff competition from other automobile car dealers all over the world. Workers in all levels of management have been demonstrating over the poor terms and conditions of work. This has resulted to conflicts between the top management level and the staff. Due to this, the company is recording low sales in many parts of the world. As consultant have met, all the stakeholders and thorough feasibility study have been contacted. The top management has given me a go ahead to come up with a permanent solution to this problem. Together with my teamwork, we have only three months to submit this report. This teamwork is working within a certain guidelines provided by the top management level. Such guidelines relates to financial limits and the technology that should make the project viable. This project involves other stakeholders whose responsibility is to evaluate the progress of the project as well measuring submitting reports to the top management level. This team will work together within stipulated period. First, the feasibility study will undergo thorough cross-examination and the current situation examined. The task force will also look at the market research already contacted and come up with new marketing strategies in order to make more sales and avoid competition. This will come true if the company will manufacture modern type of cars, which can be affordable (Bentley & Whitten, 2007). This will reduce stiff competition the company is currently facing. The company should also manufacture cars, which can adapt harsh climatic conditions. This will boost sales and competition minimized. This project will come up with a system, which is cost effective and favorable to employees to avoid conflicts and financial constraints. We will come up with a modern technology, which will monitor this new initiative. This modern technology will be user friendly to the employees in the information technology department. The current technology will terminates to exist so that it can pave way for the new technology. In this, case old the staff in the information technology department will have to attend short courses on how to undergo this new technology. Finally, the project will show estimates of our budget and the period it will take for its full implementation take effect. For instance, this will take only four months to come into use. This new system will make the company increase sales and target many potential customers around the globe. It will also reduce the cost of manufacturing cars hence maximizing profits. In conclusion, the system will be viable because it brings together a group of experts who have done thorough research. This task force will also divide into groups to analyze the system implementation. Some will gather relevant information from the employees while others will research on the market behavior and the expectations of the consumers. After gathering this information, further measures will be effected and immediate response undertaken. This will involve all the stakeholders developing this new system. In this stage, the system analyst will give directives on how to proceed. At this stage also the task force will undertake some statistics to look at the countries which this company is facing stiff competition. They will also call a general meeting to all the employees so that they can air their grievances (Bentley & Whitten, 2007). This will make the task force to make decisions, which will avoid demonstrations in the near future within the company. This task force will also analyze the customer’s needs by proposing to the company to come up with modern advanced cars. This will reduce competition because the world business of automobiles is going digital. The profits margin will go up leading to good performance. Future demands of the customers become outdated because the task team proposes that the company should update its website after three months. The company’s website must also meet the international standards. This report will also put mechanisms to ensure that the company’s premises have some suggestion boxes, which are currently lacking. This will make employees from all the departments post complains to the higher management level. Demonstrations will therefore be minimized hence employees productivity will improve. The above solutions already addressed will be tabled to the top management in the first two weeks so that a further go ahead can be given. If the top management does not comply with the progress of the project, it must state the reasons. If the project has gone beyond their budget allocations, they must adjust it. If the top management finds that, the project or the new system will not work they should give directives to stop. At this stage, the task force will discuss all the changes, which the top management level has put into place. The system analyst will help in achieving the directives effected by the top management. The steering committee chaired meetings to discuss these directives and all the members contributes exhaustively. The task force will work following the guidelines of the new directives. This will make the task force use these guidelines as a reference, which they file for future use in the course of developing the new system. The system analyst will give the task force a clear picture of how the new system will work. He or she must state the boundaries of the project to avoid coming up with a system that cannot work in the near future. He or she will also give the task force a graphical user interface of how the system should look like. After presentation of the graphical user interface members of the task force will examine the existing system models. Every department in the company is re-visited and data collected according to the current situation. This will give the task force a better chance to know how the existing system has affected growth of the company. After the task force gets the feedback, they will undertake another brief analysis of the existing system and investigate how the problem started. This will give them a revelation of how the new system will look like hence giving the right proposal to the top management level (Bentley & Whitten, 2007). The system analyst at this stage will employ his or her skill to ensure that all the necessary parts appear in the system proposal report. The system analyst will further go ahead and try the new system to the end users of the new system. If it succeeds, he or she will bring it back to task force for progress. End users may reject the new system proposal and they might require clarification. If the employees are not willing to post their grievances to the suggestion boxes they will give will an alternative measure, which should come into effect. In this stage, all the challenges, which bring this stiff competition comes in limelight in a more distinctive manner. First hand, information will give the task force a better way to resolve employee’s problems. The cost effectiveness of the new system will show itself since the entire levels of management are involved. At this stage, there is no assumption, everything appears practically done, and immediate feedback recorded. The existing resources will also have a chance to get an upgrad or replacement with modern ones if they do not give the required service. Tangible benefits remains examined at this stage by evaluating what the old system have been offering to the company. Future problems, which the system might face, will also come to the top agenda. The system analyst must focus on how this stiff competition is affecting the company and how employee’s demonstrations can end. In order to achieve this, the company should increase wages and salaries for both casual and permanent employees. If this is not possible now the management should engage employees into dialogue on how it would pay them on phases. To overcome the problem of stiff competition the company should either pull their businesses out of the countries with stiff competition or improve customer’s service. This can only work if customers can have discounts and bonuses. It can also come into effect by giving customers after sales service after they buy cars. The company should also contact thorough market research to ascertain what the other companies are offering. This will improve the market since the exact problem relies on first hand information. This project will give the top management an overall view of the existing system has affected the company’s performance. The new system proposes that the company should not rely on manufacturing cars of the same make for long. It should have different models of cars after every three months. This will create a new business venture for the company hence widening the market. Customers make choices according to the products offered in the market. If the market looks diversified, customers will switch to new products in the market and discard the outdated products. The system analyst should have interpersonal skills so that he or she can make timely decisions. The technology which seems appropriate to the new system will use have to be tried so that the effects can be analyzed. As a consultant who is in this project my assumption is that, the top management level will accept our proposal and the new system will see the light of the day. Am also assuming that the financial estimates will get approvals and the new system will take its course. In conclusion, the stiff competition General Motors Company is facing must follow certain procedures. The company should therefore follow the above procedures in order to achieve positive results. All the stakeholders in the development of the new system should work towards achieving a common goal. The project will succeed if the teamwork is dedicated and have common interest (Bentley & Whitten, 2007. The company should therefore embrace change and start manufacturing new models of cars after every three months. This depicts that a wide market will increase sales thus improving companies annual sales. My last assumption is that new models of cars will attract more customers around globe. The challenges experienced by this company will end with time if all the parties will practice flexibility. As a consultant, the project will act as a guideline on how to replace the old system with the new system. The guidelines will appear in the first page of the project manual or handbook. This will give the chief executive officer a chance to know steps followed even before he or she reads the content of the book. The manual or the handbook will have a well-drawn charts and graphs showing different levels of management. This graphs and charts will give the top management level a clear picture of how the new system will appear and the procedures involved.
