The new business practices, on the other hand, involve a transparent setup and a free market, free of turmoil to operate and maximize production (Bennett 1998). Also, in such a case, the consumer must also be able to spend on the product, to make it a success. However, Burma currently has strong institutions having a hold on the resources which need to be exploited, i.e. a few of the military generals and autocrats have access to the resources, and thus, dealing with these groups might prove to be a waste of the corporation`s own efforts. Also, in case of political instability, it would be quite difficult to generate revenues since Burma won`t be able to extract its oil resources unless the focus is on fixing the political issues of the country.

However, to come up with a more integrated approach; conducting a VRIO analysis would be crucial. Considering that Cameron International Corporation deals with flow equipment, the product is of critical value to Burma as sooner or later, the state would have to extract its natural resources like oil is the sole chip for the company out of which it may seek profits. Analyzing the entry from the rarity perspective, the Burmese market has recently opened its market for foreign investment, while, Cameron International also offers unique products, and given the richness of resource base in Burma, investing in the market should be quite beneficial for the firm. Considering the principle of imitation, Cameron International has unique products base, alongside, potential resources and a yearly profit of $596.8 million, thus, in any case, even if it has to face competitors, it can certainly take advantage given the uniqueness and net revenue generation to cover for the costs. Lastly, considering the principle of organization, Cameron International has been in business for many years, and it already has experience and organization, owing to which it has been reaping considerable benefits in the firm. Thus, relying on the VRIO analysis alone, investing in the Burmese market can prove to be quite a good option for Cameron International, as all indicators point toward the success rate and reflect the competitive advantage of the company. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
