 The Business Policy by Sekhar Satya Introduction The Business Policy book by Sekhar Satya is a book that inspires the audience, especially in major firms and organizations, to have a hand in strategy management and policy making. It is through this book that many individuals in the business field are shown the crucial nature of being part of the construction of organizational policies and strategies. Strategy, in today’s competitive market, is highly likely to aid in the process of being at the top of the business world (Sekhar, 2009). It is simply not enough to hire the best business minds, fresh from business schools that might give an organization an edge. It is about innovativeness and creativity that makes it through today’s business world. Some of the concepts used by businesses are introduced in the book. Key points of the book In the book, the author agrees that a number of organizations have adopted a strategic management system. This system allows managers and employees alike to be involved, either directly or indirectly, with the running of the organization’s strategy implementation. It is written to bring out the theoretical layout of strategy management that allows the growth of the organization, as well as everyone in it. In the book, the author created the perfect environment for the audience to comprehend the nature of business policy making (Sekhar, 2009). This is by explaining its definition from diverse professionals in the business field. One of the main themes of the book is the delicate nature of protecting strategies from exploitation. In this position, the author is placed to advocate for the review of journals of research, which aid in schools and researchers across the globe (Sekhar, 2009). It is appropriate because, a number of books and articles have also been written concerning the topics in the book. It is like a summary into the business world, and what it may take to make it to the top. Currency The author relayed ideas in the book that are relevant in today’s business world, and the past. It is clear to see what the author is saying in the book taking precedence in the workplace, so as to alleviate the pressure from management (Sekhar, 2009). This is when it comes to making and implementing strategies in the organization. In the book, the author pointed out what was clearly missing in some of the major organizations that were failing in policy implementation. Coverage The book goes into detail on how to salvage an organization through the policies that are implemented. Individuals are capable of identifying what their organizations need to do, for them to be among the top players in the business world. It covers a wide area of organizational improvement, which many may consider the bulk of the task of business policy implementation (Sekhar, 2009). Some of the omissions are identified and the reasons given for such omission. The book contributes significantly to the business field and discipline, because; many students and researchers are inclined to follow in the author’s footsteps. This should be the aim of every book written about any discipline present in the world. Applicability in my profession The author brings out the important nature of the spirit of working together to obtain common objectives (Sekhar, 2009). It is this point that makes the book an intriguing piece as the business world is told of how to relate in terms of conducting business. When individuals get to comprehend the basics of getting involved in the dynamics of creating and implementing policies in their organizations, they are likely to perform better. This is with the thought in mind that they are valuable to their organization, to the extent of being given a chance to say what they desire. The policies introduced in the book can be relayed to any organization, whether big or small. All of them aim at ensuring organizations are better placed to handle their business, while at the same time, creating a business environment that is free and fair. Conclusion It is imperative to note the effort put in by the author. Sekhar ensured that the book could provide information to all organizations seeking to have a better hand in conducting business. The concept of having more people involved in the governing process is captivating as individuals can agree on what best suits them. I would, therefore, recommend this book for its simplicity, its awareness, and its credibility.
