Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to venues IV. Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to concertgoers V. Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to copyright owners VI. Conclusion VII. Work cited Music Business Introduction Apple has discovered a patent that was published on June 2 that uses infrared receivers to disable phone cameras when they are opened at live shows. The idea is inclusive of an image-processing way, which would determine if every detected image by the camera includes an infrared sign with programmed data. The cameras would not be on, but other phone general applications would work. Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to performing artists The disadvantage of this technology is that, there will be control of irritating fans when they are recording videos with their phones. Some artist also dislike their live presentations recorded and posted everywhere in the internet. The invention would therefore be advantageous to them because the audiences will not record them at their will. Moreover, the device can be of aid to the artist because people can watch the recorded live performances on You Tube, and dislike them. This can make the artists lose many funs, a problem, which can be avoided by simply disabling iphone videos capabilities at the live performance (CBC News). Disabling iphone videos potentials can be unfavorable to upcoming artists who need exposure. They can acquire the exposure through the videos of their gigs that their funs record and post online. If shows are indiscoverable on you tube, then the artists are not going to be seen. It is irritating when funs record videos in live performances but the conditions that come with the disabling of iphone videos at performances may results in losing funs. The recording devices are resources of growing recognition. If one sees a You Tube and think the group of artist sound good, they may go over to iTunes and buy some tracks or go to buy CDs. Therefore, banning the small recording devices can result in the reduced exposure for the artists and will do nothing to progress their lot in life (CBC News). Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to venues Such technology would be advantageous to many venues because recording may result into copyright violation and may make it difficult for bands to control their images. The convenience of having a small, subtle video footage appliance constantly nearby in the form of a Smartphone means that many concertgoers may ignore such rules. Behind, many gig tickets, audiences are regularly told not to record video. Some venues even stop fans from bringing cameras altogether. However because the cell phones have smarter and improved video technology, it is no longer difficult for concert –goers to film and post a high-quality plagiarized recording(CBC News). The use of this technology is an appropriate way of discontinuing iphone consumers from illegitimately recording performances and other live shows. The infrared sensor that could be placed at venues would enable the detection of audiences holding up iPhones towards the stage. The sensor would then repeatedly cripple the iphone camera, shortly, preventing any footage (CBC News). The device also has disadvantages to venues because through iPhones, the venues can have restricted recording presentations, which they can sell to whom is interested, especially the audiences. By disabling the audiences’ recording abilities, there will be reduced recognition of the venues (CBC News). Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to concertgoers One advantage of disabling the iphone videos capabilities at concerts is that there will be no more audiences, who distract other concertgoers by holding up their iPhones during the concerts. Apart from drunkards and smokers holding their cigarettes in front you so that the smoke goes directly up in your face, audiences recording videos at performances also annoy other concertgoers (Webb). The device will culminate in numerous disadvantages to the concertgoers because it will disable their products. To them, it appears that corporations are progressively making laws through the burdensome use of the technology and unpleasant “Terms of Services”. This means that the concertgoers no longer have private assets possession rights to the products that they purchase. Moreover, concertgoers who pay a lot of money to go to concert will not be enthusiastic about this technology because they may want to record the videos, keep them as memories, and prove to others that they actually attended the concert (Webb). Advantages and disadvantages of disabling iphone videos capabilities to copyright holders It is also vital to understand that there is no freedom to engage in copyright violations, which the technology focuses on. This technology appears compelled to follow such aspects due to the uncontrolled copyright violation. It stops the iphone consumers from breaching copyright regulations by ultimately distribution of recorded videos to others. The application of this technology is an effort to assist broadcasters and corporations that sell their footages of live gigs. The insinuation is that, sales are affected when unpaid recordings appear on video-sharing sites. The technology would also become effective in the prevention of the phone owners from taking pictures of art in museums, or any other place that tries to block photography or video recording. The copyright holders are always frustrated when videos of shows appear online through websites like You Tubes, which let people watch freely (Staff Reporter). A disadvantage to copyright holders is that, Apple may be tinkering with the likelihood of making agreements with record companies to charge people to film live concerts. For a small payment, iphone consumers could evade the infrared sensors and still record footage. Conclusion A device that is disabled would not be a feature that the public consumers would find pleasant. If there is going to be the implementation of this exclusive and somewhat non-desirable feature set, it would appear to be helpful to venues and performers desiring to ban footages. The device prevents the effortless “video capture and uploading websites” (Staff Reporter). In any instance, it is not normally the best proposal to offer things that consumers will find undesirable.
