Introduction Templeton’s Canine Retreat Templeton’s Canine Retreat, Pink Field Farm is a business that takes care of dogs and draws their customers from the wealthiest in the society. However, for some reasons, they cannot take away their dogs from them or keep them for a long time, like a period of four months. The period as to which the animal stays is often agreed by the owner or person in charge. Some of the services that the animal undergoes are exercise, training, grooming, and other available schedules. However, the company claims that it is aware of its responsibilities and does not agree with how it is going to meet its objectives but uses its knowledge in producing the desired results for its customers. The company is also said to take care of 60 animals at one time where attention and care is provided to them at a cost. Recently, a customer complained of his dog’s condition and behavior and demanded for compensation. Zelda complained of his dog having acquired bad habits, which took him a lot of effort and time to eliminate. Additionally, it developed an eczema-like skin, leaving the back of his leg bald. Zelda refers to their agreement, which states that the company provides veterinary services under the owner’s expense. However, the result of this disease prevented his dog from taking part in the Buckinghamshire show and therefore, demands for compensation. Such cases call for Public Relations of a company to intervene in order to rectify the problem. When Zelda wrote the company a complain letter, their response was rude implicating that the customer was after money and making a fool out of themselves, but at the same time thinks that she can take up an appropriate gesture in such circumstances. This makes the company go back to their PR policy where by their reputation is the most important asset and needs to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. It should therefore, take time to maintain its PR image and client pool intact by first of all, making sure that they retain their entire lot of customers in terms of satisfying their needs. American Council on Public Relations (1995) contends that there should be effective communication whenever a scandal comes up, like Zelda’s case for example, the company should make sure they listen to his complains instead of pushing her away or ignoring her. Steps Templeton’s Canine Retreat maintains its PR image and client pool intact Effective communication can help win back the Zelda’s trust which will help in maintaining the PR image of the company. Public Relations of any company is how the public perceives it publicly particularly in its customers eyes. Most of the companies have budgets in place in order to ensure that the public views them positively. In short, the main aim of public relations is to advertise positive things about the company in order to enhance the company’s image and at the same time downplay negative things about the company from the public. Therefore, the company should make sure they take criticisms of the public positively so as to help them come up with decisions on how to deal with negative image of a company (Manpower information INC., 1997). For a company to maintain its PR image and client pool intact it should think of donating either money or time to a charitable cause or raise money. Some of the potential customers need to see that a certain company cares and supports the community. Additionally, it should send representatives of the company to seminars and conferences or issuing press releases in order, to send a message to the public on what it does, activities implemented and positive impacts that the company has implemented (Paris, 2003). Such press releases will reach a lot of people that are potential customers and would not have known their activities or accomplishments of the company. As a result, the company’s image will still remain intact, attract more customers as well as maintain its clients. The image of a company is very essential, whereby; any negative event can easily destroy the company. For example, in Zelda’s case where she complains of her dog suffering from eczema after taking it to Templeton’s Canine Retreat, Pink field Farm for service as well as acquired bad habits that took her time and effort to correct them. Such a case can literally tarnish the image of the company if Zelda goes spreading the word to the society of the company’s bad services. Therefore, in order to help protect and build the company’s positive image, it should do that effectively through effective public relations (Paris, 2003). According to Boone (2010), for effective communication to exists; it requires understanding, analysis and knowledge of all factors that will influence the public attitude of the company. In order to solve or rectify a mistake, then the company should research and analyze the customers complains in order to identify all the relevant factors of the circumstances. To add to this, it should also come up with an overall policy with respect to the complains. This should include defining their desired goals and outcomes, in addition to, limits under which the campaign for rectifying the mistakes should operate on. After the company identifies its tactics and strategies, it should use its knowledge of potential audience as well as its established policies. It should also come up with specific programs in order to achieve its goals and then communicate them to its public, then apply public relations method to reach its audience. At this stage the company will receive feedback from its audience and make essential adjustments to its programs (Boone, 2010). Conclusion Templeton’s Canine Retreat should maintain its PR image and client pool intact by going back to their PR policy where by their reputation is the most important asset and needs to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. It should therefore, take time to maintain its PR image and client pool intact by first of all, making sure that they retain their entire lot of customers in terms of satisfying their needs. It should also research and analyze the customers complains in order to identify all the relevant factors of the circumstances. Additionally, it should come up with an overall policy with respect to complains which includes defining their desired goals and outcomes, in addition to, limits under which the campaign for rectifying the mistakes should operate on.
