These issues are really complicated and have more depth than we anticipate. Common wellbeing is the major aim of the economic reforms in China today. In fact, all the countries have the same motto; living and working together for the common good, enabling cooperation and mutual prosperity to coexist with healthy and fair competition. Since China is a heavily populated country, balancing the interests of a huge population is a difficult task; but it is necessary to avoid any social, economical, political or environmental problems. For common development, balancing the protection of intellectual property and of public interests, balancing the market rules and national interests, and balancing the protection of intellectual property and of developing countries, cultural achievements are important (Lu, 2001, p.113-118)

China should respect intellectual property and freedom of expression rights of the public in order to become a knowledge-based economy in its true sense. According to some recent reports, Liu Xiaobo, the Chinese Nobel peace prize winner of 2010, is still in jail and China has no plan to release him even for receiving the prize. The communist regime in China doesn’t have a belief in giving any kind of free expression rights to the public since they are afraid of a possible public agitation against communism. Since the freedom of expression is prohibited in China, the term “intellectual property rights” becomes meaningless in China. China argues that they are focusing on the wellbeing of the entire public rather than the individuals. However, reports from China show that some of the wealthiest persons in the world are Chinese citizens because of the disparities in income distribution.
