For a company driven by supply chain momentum to a large extent, the paper delves deep to the subterranean strata of the steel industry and the challenges it poses at a global level to a global player. ArcelorMittal is a master among the masters. It is interesting to see what a master player has up in his sleeves by means of his master strategies. A finally this master player plays his cards? What means he has to mitigate those challenges?The paper then offers a set of recommendations to strengthen its maritime logistics system.

Divided into an intriguing succession of the subject, the flow of the paper is best illustrated in the figure below:Figure 30: Building strong capabilities in port/terminal operations would require service rationalization, resource planning, stevedore management, operations process execution, monitoring, and control 44Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. The chemical composition of steel includes more than 96 percent iron, less than 2 percent carbon and 1 percent manganese and small quantities of silicon, phosphorous, sulfur and oxygen.

Steel is one of the worlds most important engineering and construction materials. It is used in every facet of our lives; from refrigerators to ships and from agriculture to agriculture (World Steel Association).Contrary to the belief that steel is a single product, there are more than 3500 grades of steel. Of this, more than 75 percent of modern steel have been developed in the last 20 years alone (World Steel Association).
