But, given the gradual entry of other competitors in the market, Google’s journey to retain its position has not been a very easy one and has often involved a number of tough decisions related to almost complete business strategies. Despite all the constraints and barriers that came in its way, the ability of the company to stay back in its old position makes it a good reason for an intensive case study.

Chapter 1 to this paper covers the history of Google till date and a brief account of the various strategies, products, services and the business model that it had stuck to for a more or less successful journey so far. Chapters 2 and 3 make an analysis of the firm using the SWOT business model. The former part takes care of the strengths and weaknesses of the firm through an analysis of its resources and competitive capabilities; whereas the latter one examines the opportunities and threats that the firm is prone to, using tools and techniques of environmental and competitive analysis.
