Communication in Business Ch 10-12 al Affiliation: Communication in Business Ch 10-12 Persuasion is important in allbusiness aspects. Before writing persuasive messages, the writer should critically analyze the situation, collect enough data and choose the best media to use. A persuasive message should follow the direct approach, and the message should be of limited scope (Thill, & Bovée, 2013). The message should be ethical and strategic to the culture of the recipient. A good persuasive message should capture the reader’s attention, build interest and trigger a pre-intended action.

Persuasive messages should be ethical and should comply with the set rules and regulations. Any persuasive message is bound to encounter objection and the message composer should always be ready to deal with such a situation. Writing proposals and reports should follow the three step writing process. The purpose of the report or the proposal should be clearly stated. The organization of the report or the proposal determines how well it achieves its intended objective. A direct approach is recommended for reports and proposals.

The methods of collecting data should be clearly explained since it helps convince the reader on the credibility of the report (Thill, & Bovée, 2013). The results of data collection should be accurately presented through both written formats and visuals. Planning for reports and proposals should include an exercise on effective resource evaluation. Recommendations and conclusions should be supported by paraphrased and quoted information from research done. Primary sources such as interviews and questionnaires should be short, clear and free from ambiguity.

The information in reports and proposals should be well documented and logical so that it can be convincing to the reader. Information should be well balanced in the various sections of the report, introduction, body, recommendation and conclusion. The type of data visualization tool used depends on the type of information being presented, the audience, and the intention of the writer (Thill, & Bovée, 2013). Visualization tools are used to simplify data and hence should be more understandable than the written content in the proposal or the report.

Every research done by any department is presented in the form of a report. The management writes annual reports to the customers and shareholders.
