Extract of sample "6.1: Sparks of Agression"

In this case, it can be observed that Pedro behaves the way he does due to anxiety which is mainly caused by stress. He is aroused by the tension andfrustration that has been building between him and the college student who has been working as a summer fill-in at the same organization. His stress extends to the other female employee who is alleged to have rebuffed his romantic gestures towards her. Pedro has high expectations and he believes that individuals below his position should dance to his tune.

However, this is not the case and this is the reason why he behaves in an aggressive manner. In other words, he perceives this situation as a direct challenge to his status in the organization and that is the other reason why he behaves in an aggressive manner.. In order to address this kind of stress, there are various measures that can be taken by Pedro. He should confront the issue as it is and adopt an active problem solving style. Individuals in most cases should try to solve problems they may encounter on their own to see f they can come up with meaningful solutions that can be implemented.

This strategy is very effective in that the individual involved will perceive the stressful situation from the other angle. Pedro should put emotions aside and try to get to the crux of the issue and investigate if the student is really that bad as he purports. In some cases, there are certain individuals who have a tendency of jumping into conclusions on the basis of the way they perceive other people. However, upon a closer reflection of what the real cause of the issue might be, it can be noted that the student is not wrong after all.

Thus, self reflection is important for Pedro since this can help him to understand the situation in a better way. Confronting the issue at hand as it is can be a good start if the stress is leading towards aggressive behaviour like this case involving Pedro. In the end, he got arrested for injuring the neighbor and never returned to work. In the end, it can be seen that his actions are costly and he should have adopted another way of dealing with his stress. The other strategy that could be adopted by Pedro is to seek help from other people.

There are people who have a positive attitude and they can help a person experiencing this stress to take a positive approach to life. It is also recommended that Pedro should be open enough to discuss his fears and anxieties in life. After all, this is a passing phase in life which can be solved amicably without committing any crime like what later happens to him. A problem shared is solved as the adage goes. The problem in this case is that Pedro took it upon himself that he can deal with his stress and anxiety alone.

There are many advantages that can be derived from sharing a problem with other people. In this case, he should have tried to talk to other workmates in the organization to see if they could get help him go through this trying situation. References Sinclair, H. & Fawcet, J. (1991).
