Socio cultural trends that effect the industry of mobile phones Trends that affect the Socio cultural trends that effect the industry of mobile phonesFad – the perception of desirability of a certain product for a certain period of time.Marketing – the way the products are conveyed and sold to the customer whose efficacy is only limited on a certain period of time.Evolving technology – includes design, structure, functionality and applications that affects the consuming behavior of customers.

Smarter mobile phones – functionality in mobile phones that would make it desirable among consumers such as better hardware and applications (Demers 2014). II. Trends Trend is relative in the industry of mobile phones due to its dizzying pace of its technological advances. What is considered long-term trend is the need for better technology in mobile phones because mobility is the way of the future. What is short term trend are the attempts of the manufacturers to address such need that would fall in the category of fad and that includes their marketing approaches.

Fads and marketing method are considered to be short-term trend because of the short attention span of customers about the latest model of mobile phones. The efficacy of marketing approaches are also short terms because customers are getting more sophisticated and demanding along with the advances of technology. III. Information from ONS to help identify socio cultural trends.One of the information available in the Office of National Statistics Office that could help identify socio cultural trends is the wealth and income of people because it would determine their disposable income that would stimulate socio cultural trends (www.ons.gov nd) .
