Brian limited practised that employees are allowed to choose their own working style without any specific system to follow. Employees were allowed to eat and drink wherever they want in the working area and there is no formal dress code for them. The pay was in direct proportion with the hours of work they performed. However Brian Limited was facing code of conduct problems from some time and the proprietor resolved to hire a new Ethics Officer for the company named Jeanne Wood. Jeanne understood the need for a community approach for the company and devised some policies: New inductions will be based on their previous work history and reason for leaving that job.

The employees that are working for more than 3 years for Brian Limited are eligible to get a permanent job with the company instead of a contract job. Permanent employees are eligible to get provident fund and other retirement benefits. Permanent employees are allowed medical and casual leaves up to twenty days in a year. Permanent employees are eligible for medical benefits. All employees are provided with day time meal and medical compensations in case of workplace injuries. Employees are encouraged to take part in community helping activities and one of them will be awarded as “the Employee of the Month”.

  Jeanne’s policies were very effective and proved to be useful in increasing behaviour related issues. It also helped in decreasing the employee turnover rate as compared to previous years. However, Jeanne thinks that the female employees are still not getting proper privileges and there should be a system that recognizes their needs and give them appropriate salary packages and opportunity of advancement.
