? Organization and behavior Organization and behavior One of the major keys to effective management is to keep their employees motivated to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives (Barrett, 2003). It is essential for management to anticipate the requirements of employees to keep them motivated. Organizations operate in a different environment, therefore the management use different motivational theories according to type of work and environment. Motivation is the method to energize, maintain and control the behavior of employees. For the purpose, organizations use Motivational Theories to increase the efficiency, productivity and quality of their employees (McShane et al., 2009). The results of the motivation on the efficiency and productivity of the organization is difficult to determine. However, research and studies have found that organizations generate high level of outputs and more sustainable levels of achievement if their employees are motivated (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2008). Therefore, the management of motivation is a critical element in an organization that is achieved through maximizing the human resource inputs, in order to attain the potential output of its employees. This document illustrates impacts of motivational theories on organizations in the context of leadership and effective teamwork. Leadership can be defined as a social influence of a person to support and assist other people to achieve the given task or goal. The change in the organization is highly resisted by its employees therefore the organizations should appropriate leadership style to overcome these resistances. For example: when Apple, the company, appointed Steve Jobs was calm (McShane et al., 2009). The team was performing well (Barrett, 2003). The management may adopt cheerleading style as it boosts and maintain the performance of employees during the period. On the contrary, the change of management in the Norwegian Civil Aviation Industry, created a chaotic condition. The organization was in chaos and clam, The Company used coaching leadership, as it shall assess team member to understand, grow and learn the events in a positive way. It also allows strengthening bench and increasing team member retention. Apple developed a strong cognition in its management that allowed the organization to enhance its attitude, belief, behavior and values of its employee (Barrett, 2003). When Steve Job rejoined Apple in 1996, the company enhanced the beliefs and values through developing proximity with Jobs. In addition, the company provided six level hierarchy of need by providing Steve Job with the security, psychological and self-actualizing opportunities to motivate human behavior. Apple provided several incentives and exclusive facilities to Job (Hendricks & Louw-Potgieter, 2003). In order to sustain the motivation of its employee, organizations are suggested to practice traditional motivational theories. These theories allow the organization to make a vivid approach towards motivation techniques that an organization may adopt to retain its employee. One of the motivational theories is the Cognitive Dissonance Theory. The theory develops a strong relationship between the management and employees (Barrett, 2003). Through this management is able to expand consciousness of its employee, strengthen their attitude at work, emotion, belief, value and behavior etc. It is essential for the organization to develop a strong relationship with its employee in order to retain its employees (McShane et al., 2009). In the current world, to retain employees the management and organization focuses on the anticipation of its employee. Psychological satisfaction of the employee to keep them focused and connected to work is the main problem. These issues can be eliminated through implementing The Cognitive Dissonance Theory in organization. It develops proximity between employees and the organization providing them mental satisfaction. Besides of this, material satisfaction of the employee is also an essential to keep employees motivated to their work. It involves the fulfillment of material needs, such as, security, incentives, shelter, and bonus etc. To address these issues Maslow’s motivation theory plays a vital role to drive human behavior. It states that the employee should be kept motivated towards their work through providing them psychological, financial and material satisfaction. Through this employees feel more secured, satisfied and happy, this is because of the reason that it provides basic needs of the human being through psychological needs, security, self esteem and needs for belonging. Studies and research suggest that teamwork is more productive than individual efforts. This is one of the major reasons that the organization prefers working as a team. In order to work in a team, it is essential for the organization to develop effective teamwork to pursue its goals. Therefore it is essential for the group to embed productivity, integrity, consistency, fairness, frequency and maximum control. If any organization entitles these characteristics it may allow the organization to perform its operation with efficiency (Harris & Hartman, 2001). Teamwork increases enthusiastic and effectiveness to achieve task and targets. People feel more secure, esteemed and determined working in groups, rather than working individually. Group behavior may allow the organization to achieve its objectives and goals more efficiently. Sharing and companionship in the group reduces individual pressure of work. It also promotes competition among the peers of the group through which the objectives are attained more quickly. However, there are certain disadvantages of the group behavior, which an organization may encounter. In groups the employees often get powerful; if the management loose controls over employees then this may strongly affect the management or organization. Researches and studies suggest that the teamwork is effective in the organization to increase it productivity. The main factors that influence the teamwork are focusing on goal, communication; deal with conflicts and compensation (Harris & Hartman, 2001). According to the study of Rice University, it has been determined that the focus and well understanding about the group is the main objective that shall be focused (Barrett, 2003). Secondly, the compensation for the effort of employee is the other main factor that enhances the efficiency of teamwork (Hendricks & Louw-Potgieter, 2003). If the employees are compensated equally without discrimination optimum level or productivity can be achieved, in team work the fundamental factor that leads or misleads the team work is communication. Strong professional and informal communication should be developed, this encourages the interaction in the team and to accomplish their goals and tasks coherently. Effective communication does not only enhance the effectiveness of the teamwork but also eliminates the conflicts that may arise during the course. Advancement of technology has assessed every aspect of life including businesses. The inducement of modern technology has enhanced the efficiency and accuracy of the work. Beside of this, it has also reduced the costs of the organization (McShane et al., 2009). Considering of Tesco, technology advancement in the organization has enhanced its supply chain, sales and customer’s relationships (McShane et al., 2009). The use of software in the organization has enhanced communication. Employees can directly communicate with the warehouse to determine the availability of stock. Therefore it can be determined that the technologies in the organization assess the teamwork performance. Analyzing the information it can be concluded that the leadership plays a significant role to stimulate organization’s performance. In order to keep employees motivated, management expert suggest implementation of various motivation approaches to enhance the effectiveness and productivity of the organization. Though the motivational theories are old but its implantation and practice are still being practiced by organizations to sustain the performance of its employees. The study also concludes that the teamwork in organizations is more effective source, rather than individual approach. Teamwork reduces the burden, develops competition and boost performance of employees. Though there are certain hindrances of teamwork but the expert suggest that the teamwork is effective. Technology has enhanced communication, integrity and effectiveness of the organization. Therefore, technology is considered to be an effective source to enhance the productivity of the organization.
