? Personal and Organizational Development Part A In the present market scenario, the worldwide market segments have developed due to increased globalisation and advent of technologies. Additionally, there has been an improvement in the fields of trade operations and investment movements. The job market in Qatar has also been developing simultaneously at a rapid pace, with the development of its business sectors and other relevant existing industries in the country. In this competitive market scenario, business organisations seek to recruit skilled employees with the intention of performing their business operations competitively. The job market in the country is also seemed to be developing in a proportionate manner with the development of the world economy, and a consequent improvement witnessed in the business conditions of the country. In this regard, the job opportunities for graduates have also been increasing in the country (Gulf Times, 2013). It has been identified that the youth literacy rate of Qatar represents 15% of the population. According to the report of ‘Labour Market Survey’ in the year 2011 has revealed that the literacy rate amid Qatari youth for the year has reached 99.5% both for males and females (GSDP, 2012). The rate of unemployment has further dropped from 3.9% during the year 2001 to 0.6% in the year 2011. It has been observed that over half of the unemployed represent youths from high school graduates and diploma holders (Statistics Authority, 2011). In this present competitive business environment, the graduates are therefore required to possess adequate skills as well as knowledge along with innovative analytical skills with the objectives of ascertaining that they are competent in performing their tasks better than other potential candidates (GSDP, 2012). In this emerging world economy, education plays an important role in preparing the graduate students for the rising need of the labour markets. The educational services of the country have also developed rapidly due to the emergence of different universities, facilitating distance educational programs. In this respect, the graduate students are offered with effective educational programs and training facilities in different subject areas that assists them to grow their abilities and skills in various fields of operations. Additionally, the students are offered with better internship programs and other skill development assistance with the objective of developing their competency level in the international standard. Education is also identified to play an effective role in developing the skills of graduate students in relation to technology, problem solving, leadership skills and communication efficacies with the objective of ensuring that the students are able to successfully and continually develop their competency level (Karoly, 2010). The economic conditions of Qatar have developed rapidly in the recent phenomenon, principally owing to its sustainable development in different business sectors. To be noted in this context, the business sectors of the country have developed at a gradual pace aided with the development of business sectors and trade operations. In this regard, it has been recognised that in the coming years, the country will certainly require a large number of graduates in the labour market of Qatar to suffice its increasing need to compete internationally. However, given the current scenario, the country is likely to be unable to meet the desired number of graduates, required for the labour market, as the number of graduates is limited to a certain number that shall not be sufficient to satisfy the identified future requirements. Subsequently, the country has adopted efficient measures on the basis of which, the educational system in the university level shall increase the number of graduates (Peninsula Newspaper, 2013; Al-Misnad, 2012). In this respect, the country has developed as well as implemented different ambitious educational policies with the objective of developing its national university strengths in the global paradigm. The educational policies are quite likely to facilitate the country in inspiring and attracting a large number of students from within the region and globally. The university has also adopted different reforms in its educational programs in order to ensure that students are offered with appropriate educational facilities (Oxford Business Group, 2009). The Qatar University (QU) has also aimed to facilitate the students in developing their skills along with competencies, so that they are able to compete in the labour market. QU has therefore developed a structured and unambiguous framework of work ethics for the students to ensure their better career in future. It is worth mentioning in this context that the developing labour market conditions of the country and blooming economic position in the global realm certainly requires additional graduates to meet the labour market requirements. It is in this context that Qatari graduates should be provided with adequate training as well as development program with the intention of enhancing the competencies of the students to perform workforce tasks along with duties appropriately. The graduate training programs, which include internship and curricular group activities, also facilitate the students in developing their competencies in relation to communication and time management. Additionally, the curricular activities shall develop multi-tasking abilities amid the students and empower them to compete at the global level. Thus, the educational system of the country has developed, modified and reformed its educational policies with the aim of developing the students with right skill sets for better career opportunities and to meet the expectations of the labour market in its near future (Qatar University, 2012; International Monetary Fund, 2008). In the present business scenario, there is all round development identifiable in business sectors around the world. Credit for such all-inclusive development can be delivered to the increased rate of globalisation and rapid advancement of technologies. Additionally, the aforementioned factors have raised competition in the worldwide market segments due to increased product variations in relation to quality features. In this regard, the students graduating needs to be provided with ample opportunities for their better career and growth in different market sectors. The graduates are also required to possess competent skills and knowledge in order to perform their workforce responsibilities along with tasks competitively. For instance, a student pursuing graduation in the area of business and finance will be facilitated in having adequate opportunities of their better career due to the development of various business sectors in both emerging and developed markets segments. The economic conditions of Qatar have also developed immensely in the recent phenomenon supported with the growth of the national market segments, world trade prospects and business sectors. Moreover, the economic outlook of the country signifies a favourable as well as positive signs of better future development toadied with better educational and healthcare facilities. The country has also adopted different developmental along with economic strategies with the objective of developing its business, education and healthcare sectors among others through effective investments (GSDP, 2011). Qatar is also identified as the richest nation on a global context on the basis of standard of living along with Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In this respect, the country will be able to make adequate investments in the educational sector in order to provide better educational facilities to students (Global Finance, 2013). Part B It has been identified that the national market segments, business sectors along with economic conditions of Qatar has been developing in rapidly keeping pace with increased globalisation and trade operations. Moreover, the labour market conditions of the country have also been recognised to be improving gradually in accordance with the all-round development of the country. In the present developing business environment of Qatar, I have been pursuing a degree program in the field of business and finance. Presently, the developing business conditions of the country have been facilitating better employment opportunities. I believe that in the current job market scenario of the country, my specialisation in business and finance will provide a wide range of job opportunities to me in different business sectors. It is identified that the financial or banking sector of the country has been developing at a rapid pace over the years. The development of this sector has thereafter met the financial needs in relation to the development of the infrastructure of the country, which include roads, water and electricity. In this regard, the development of the financial sector is likely to facilitate me in being recruited in this sector with a business and finance major (Saudi Gazette, 2013). Correspondingly, I wish to be employed in the ‘Museum of Islamic Arts’ (MIA) in the profession of Financial Affairs. MIA is leading renowned and much preferred museum in the country, attracting a substantial number of visitors from all over the world every day. The museum has different features, which include Doha skyline that possesses different Islamic arts of over 1400 years. Near the museum, there is MIA Park, which provides different entertainment services, cafe facilities along with kiosks to the visitors. Additionally, MIA, having superb collections of different attractive exhibition programs, has been recognised as one of the most preferred places for disseminating knowledge as well as inspirations about Islamic arts (Museum of Islamic Art, 2013). Thus, a job opportunity in MIA will facilitate me in being involved with the leading museum of the country. Additionally, working in MIA will also ensure me a better prospect in obtaining adequate knowledge as well as wisdom in relation to Islamic arts. It will also facilitate me in developing a better future career opportunity as being associated with a branded organisation. In this regard, my foremost aim will be to develop my career in the finance segment. As per my understanding, a major in business and finance will also facilitate me in availing adequate career opportunities in Qatar in the present scenario exhibiting developing business sectors, emerging markets along with blooming economic conditions. Contextually, my graduation program, with specialisation in the area of business and finance shall further facilitate me in accomplishing my career aim to be associated with a renowned organisation in Qatar. In this regard, working as a Financial Affairs Officer in MIA will assist me in acquiring adequate valuable experience, which will be fruitful as well as useful in my latter professional life. I have learnt that the market segments of the country has been developing at a rapid pace and in the coming years, the market and economic conditions of the country will be favourable for better business development along with employment opportunities. The museum and art sector of the country is also recognised as a developed sector attracting people from different regions of the country. The sector is mainly dependent on performing different exhibitions and having appropriate collections of arts with innovative ideas. Subsequently, my engagement with the museum will facilitate in developing my decision making skills. The decision making skills will facilitate me in communicating effectively with others about the procedures on the basis of the business operations of the museum can be performed more effectively in a cost and time efficient manner. In this context, I will be eased with the opportunity of developing innovativeness. I will learn to be more innovative as well as creative in my approach towards any task or activity both in my professional along with personal life. Furthermore, I will be able to enhance my management skills to complete tasks within the allotted time period as well as understanding the financial needs of similar kind of organisations. The management skills will assist me further in coordinating the tasks of employees. Additionally, the management skills will also facilitate me in assigning the tasks amid employees on the basis of their competencies. I will also be able to determine the importance of financial risks that are attached with the performance of similar organisations obtaining a succinct practical understanding of the current scenario. I will further acquire time management skills, which is also an important management skill in the present business scenario. Business organisations are required to perform their business operations time effectively in order to ensure that the organisations are able to meet the needs as well as preferences of customers in different market segments. In this context, time management skill will assist me in analysing the financial performance of the museum in a timely manner and also ensure that the operations are executed in accordance with the needs as well as preferences of customers visiting the museum without hampering the financial goals of the entire organisation. In this manner, I will be able to develop risk taking capabilities, which are essential in the present competitive business environment with increased globalisation along with market competition for successful and profitable business operations. During my completion of the graduation program in the area of business and finance, I had to undergo different educational tests and training facilities, which included psychometric tests and workshop activities. In this context, the psychometric tests have assisted me in understanding the need of knowledge, personality enhancement and multiple skills development. Accordingly, the psychometric test facilitated me in understanding the behaviour that will be important in my career and personal life. In this regard, from the psychometric tests, I have obtained adequate information along with knowledge that I am able to interact with others in an efficient manner. Additionally, I was also able to understand that I frequently take challenges in performing tasks that are assigned to me, in an appropriate along with effective way. The psychometric tests and workshop activities in the university course have also facilitated me in developing my abilities in different segments, which include verbal communication ability, numeric ability and accuracy. The verbal ability as well as numeric ability has facilitated me in developing my skills in the area of communication. Moreover, the ability test has also facilitated in developing my interpretation skills and knowledge in relation to financial as well as other statistical information. The psychometric test has also assisted me in understanding that I have ample knowledge and skills, which have aided me in solving analytical problems, puzzles and obtain a better knowledge of different logical systems that can be proficiently used in financial reporting processes. The psychometric test has also developed my spatial ability and accordingly, I have developed the skills of performing my tasks with adequate plans and designs. The test was also useful in signifying that there are few areas where I need to develop my skills and knowledge, which include time management skills, risk taking capabilities and teamwork. Thus, from the outcome of the psychometric test, I am able to ascertain that the most preferable career option will be in the financial field for men to be an efficient financial manager (Imperial College London, 2002). In this regard, the psychometric test has assisted me in understanding the various factors that are essential for performing the financial activities in MIA. In this context, according to the psychometric test, I believe that I am an appropriate candidate to operate as Financial Affairs Officer in MIA as I do possess adequate skills and knowledge in relation to essential aptitude and personality required for performing the bestowed tasks in lieu to the aforementioned profession. The aforementioned workshop activities and assessments have also assisted me in developing my thinking capabilities and reasoning capacity to a large extent. Contextually, the skills and theoretical knowledge that are acquired from the course have also developed my interpretation skills in relation to facts and information that are presented in verbal or numeric manner to me. The graduation course has further offered better training to me in relation to business and financial operations along with mock interview services. These training services have developed confidence in me and also motivated me in taking active participation in different management tasks and operations. The aforementioned skills have altogether facilitated me in developing better competencies along with experiences. Subsequently, these developed skills and knowledge have aided me to face interviews in a confident manner and perform my job responsibilities appropriately (Oxford University Careers Service, 2012). In this context, working in the position of Financial Affairs Officer in MIA will facilitate me in understanding the differences between theoretical knowledge and practical life scenario. I believe that with such assistance I will be able to understand the importance of theoretical knowledge in the real business environment, which will assist me to a certain extent in developing appropriate strategies along with policies on the basis of which, the financial operations of the museum will be conducted. Consequently, I will be able to apply my theoretical knowledge in real life with the assistance of which, the museum will perform profitably and successfully. In this regard, the developed practical skills acquired from the profession of Financial Affairs Officer in the museum and theoretical knowledge will aid me in building my competencies and skills for better employment opportunities in developing the labour market conditions of the country. In this regard, it can be comprehended that the practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge, altogether gained from my graduation course and through practice work experience from MIA, will assist me in performing my job tasks in an effective manner. Contextually, my knowledge and experiences in relation to communication skills, time management skills, teamwork and decision making capabilities will assist me in developing my leadership traits to a substantial extent. In this regard, I will be facilitated with the opportunity of performing my job activities in a more proficient manner. Respectively, my developed verbal abilities, numeric abilities, decision making capabilities, communication skills and management skills will enable in performing financial operations of the museum in an effective way. Furthermore, these capabilities signifying my knowledge and skills will also assist in providing suitable strategies to the management of the museum with the assistance of which, the museum will be able to perform its operations with better profitability in accordance with the needs of customers. Thus, possessing the aforementioned capabilities, knowledge and skills, I can preferably be competent in performing as well as analysing the financial operations of the museum. In the long term career context, the knowledge and the skills obtained will facilitate in enhancing my competencies in the field of business and finance at the global context. Additionally, working in the profession of Financial Affairs Officer of the MIA will also assist me in obtaining practical experiences about the procedure on the basis of which, business operations are executed in the real world. The developed skills and knowledge will also aid me in securing better employment opportunities in different business as well as financial sectors. Additionally, I will preferably be the most competent candidate in the developing labour market of the country in the coming years. Thus, my target role as a financial officer in the museum will assist me in building a better career in the future. Furthermore, these skills and knowledge will also facilitate in developing my personal life as I will be ready for every challenge that comes in my way as the skills will aid in sorting out and mitigating my challenges in an effective manner. Part C It can be comprehended that my career life in MIA and theoretical knowledge through my graduation course in business studies will assist me in obtaining different skill sets, which will commonly include communication, time management skills, decision making capabilities, verbal abilities, numerical abilities and risk taking capabilities among others. The aforementioned skills and knowledge are the most important elements in the present competitive business environment for employees to perform their activities in a competent as well as responsible manner. Contextually, the developed skills as well as knowledge will assist me in having better and sustainable career in the long run. These skills will also aid me in developing my personal life to meet challenges effectively. However, I have identified in accordance with the psychometric tests that there are certain skills, which include time management skills, teamwork and risk taking capabilities, where I require polishing or improving myself. The aforementioned skills will facilitate me in performing my activities in a better competent manner as well as in accordance with the missions along with visions of an organisation. Conceptually, time management is regarded as a technique of performing the task within a specified time as well as facilitates an employee to perform multiple tasks at a time and in an efficient manner (Chapman & Rupured, 2008). These are the most essential elements, which I am willing to acquire in my professional as well as personal life. I believe that this component will help me in performing the tasks, which are required in time. It will also help me in acquiring perfection in performing the tasks as well as possess the ability to perform better at the time of work pressure. Additionally, the time management skill will also aid me in seeking that the customers are offered with appropriate services and/or products in an efficient manner. I will acquire time management skill by adopting certain strategies, which will principally include setting priorities for every activity, developing plans for each activity, organising activities with priority and schedule time for each activity. Strategic implementation of the aforementioned strategies, on a regular basis, will assist me in improving my time management skills to a substantial extent (Chapman & Rupured, 2008). The operations of business organisations are usually performed on the basis of teamwork. Additionally, employees are segregated into teams with the objective of seeking that the business activities are executed effectively and appropriately (Sessa & London, 2007). In the present business scenario, teamwork is determined as an important factor for the efficient performance of business organisations. Teamwork is essential for business organisations in order to ensure that all the activities are performed proficiently. In this regard, I need to develop this skill with the objective of ascertaining that group activities are executed effectively with better coordination along with cooperation. Moreover, developing teamwork capabilities will facilitate me in being accepted as a part of the team. Respectively, I will be able to perform my tasks in accordance with the vision as well as mission of an organisation. In order to develop teamwork capabilities, I will need to be aware of certain traits, which include intercommunication, compromise, commitment, participation and hardworking. Respectively, the development of the aforementioned skills will assist me in performing group activities effectively (Sessa & London, 2007). To sum up, these are the various essential qualities that are essential for performing group activities effectively. Moreover, I will develop the aforementioned skills in the final year of my course study. References Al-Misnad, S. A. (2012). The dearth of Qatari men in higher education: reasons and implications.
