The social media channels that will be used are Facebook, Linked In, Youtube, My Sapce, Orkut. The benefits of social media are discussed across various verticals like the communication and marketing, operational excellence, increase revenue and increasing market share, improve the satisfaction of the guest, improve the social media responsibility and improve the brand image. Besides the apparent benefits and improvements of utilizing the social media platform, the company has to face a number of problems. 2.0 Improvement in communication Social media will give Stone Goose Company a better way to communicate with the customers.

Most of the time the communication between the customers and the company takes place on one way basis, where the message travels from the company to the customers and not from the customers to the company (Hardey, 2009). Facebook gives the customers and companies a chance to establish a two way communication. The two way communication helps the customers’ convey their need and wants and complaints to the company in a better way (Kozinets, 2008). This will improve the pre sales and post sales communication.

Improved communications will lead to better sales promotion and better customer satisfaction. 3.0 Improvement in marketing Marketing is all about optimizing the four Ps which are product, place, price and promotion. As discussed, social media would prove to be an improved medium of communication. The improved communication medium will offer Stone Goose Company an effective way to carry out product promotion. LinkedIn will also enable Stone Goose Company to position their products in a unique way (Paynter, 2010).

Stone Goose Company can use the customized customer analytics program to find and analyze the customer behavior and customers’ preferences in order to relate the customer demographics with the products. This will ensure that the products offered are able to meet the needs and wants of the customers. 4.0 Improvement in operational excellence Social media like My Space offers the unique opportunity to establish a direct contact between the customers and company. So whatever excellence in operation can be achieved has to be from the customer perspective.

From customer perspective, the operational excellence can be achieved in the post sales service. The post sales service includes various aspects like responding to the customer requests of repairs and changes and refunds and complaints. This will enable customers to lodge post sales service request. Stone Goose Company will check the lodged complaints in the social media websites, and act accordingly (Steinman, 2012). This system can be compared with any traditional customer complaint handling model, but there is one distinct difference.

The direct posting of the customer requests and complaints in Facebook, Youtube makes it visible to company, competitors as well as existing and probable customers. 5.0 Improvement in revenue and market share Stone Goose Company can use the social media not only to increase its business to customer sales but also its business to business prospects.
