 Code of Ethics Introduction Code of ethics is a central guide which supports everyday decision making in an organization or at work. It summarizes and clarifies the strengths of the organization. These strengths include; principles, values, and mission of the organization, which helps the employees to understand the cornerstones of the organizations and applies them in decision making. The organization is Tea Processing Factory (Collins, 2009, p. 123). Purpose of the Factory The purpose of the factory is to process to process raw tea leaves and produce consumable tea leaves. It was started to serve the community through the provision of finished goods at an affordable price, provide employment, improved infrastructure and security. The community benefits from the factory because they are the immediate residents within the factory. This is through the provision of subsidized prices and getting the goods without moving long distances. The organization contributes to the value of the society by improving the economic development of the residents around the organization. The organization will be transporting raw materials and finished goods to the factory and to the market. This will force the organization to make sure that roads are well constructed and maintained to make transportation easy. The residents around will benefit from the road network as they will be travelling without any problem (Collins, 2009, p. 44). They will be transporting their particulars to various destinations like markets and inputs to the farm easily. Also, the organization will make sure that communication network within the organization and outside the organization will be well connected. This will ease the communication between the staff in the organization and outside with customers and other stakeholders. The community will benefit with the communication network. Principles of the Factory Each and every organization should have well set principles to govern its day-to-day running. The first rule is for the organization is to obey the laws stipulated by the constitution as well as the organizations laws. Among the laws are the rules, which should be observed by the employees in their daily activities. As a result of this, an employee receives punishment when he/she breaks the laws. Some employees can be punished because of reporting to work late, misappropriation of funds, taking organization properties without permission, and even being careless when handling their daily activities (Collins, 2009, p. 145). Another rule is that the organization should submit the taxes within the stipulated time and dates to avoid penalties from the government. The organization virtues and values include transparency, everything that is being handled in the organization should be transparent and known by all the stakeholders of the organization. Some employees or staff might decide to do some activities in their own and the name of the organization. This might affect the organization in either losing some of its properties, or being punished after the employees perform illegal activities in the name of the organization. Such employees or staff should be punished accordingly. Also, teamwork is another virtue which practiced in the organization. This is the pivotal one because if there is no teamwork in the organization, there will be a poor decision making. This is because few individuals will make decisions according to their own ideas. The decisions made as a team are rich in ideas than those made by individuals. Integrity is another virtue practiced in the organization. It is considered as truthfulness, accuracy or honest in the actions of each and every employee. When it is implemented, it helps the staff to be accurate in their activities especially those in the finance department. People The employees should be served well to satisfy their needs. This should be done by giving them enough remuneration according to their workload. A considerable remuneration should be given to them such that they can afford their needs and save some in small quantities (Collins, 2009, p. 188). Another thing employees should be guaranteed is favourable working conditions such that they will be comfortable when delivering their duties. Employees should be given opportunities to deliver their grievances to the responsible departments when the need arises. Employees are motivated to work hard by being offered opportunities to be sponsored in seminars and training. This will help them to improve their skills, which will improve the quality of services they offer. Customers should be served well by ensuring that they get all the products they require on time. The supply of the products should be continuous, stable and reliable for a reasonable. The customers should not be charged higher prices or fluctuation in the prices of products. This will make the customers run away and move to another competitor, thus, leading to the organization’s failure. The customers should be given after sales services like transport such that they will enjoy the service and come again. Performance and rewards Employees should be rewarded for their best performances in the organization. This will motivate them to work hard bearing in mind the rewards they will be awarded if they perform well compared to others (Collins, 2009, p. 78). If there were rewards for employees' performance, Doug Ivester could not be willing to continue practicing the old southern culture. This is because the culture does not offer any reward even if an employee improved his/her performance. The employees would go to organizations where they offer rewards for the best services they offer. If there were rewards for product safety, tobacco companies would not be willing to sell cigarettes. Accountability and Control There should be people who are held accountable and to control some happenings in an organization (Collins, 2009, p. 110). From examples, in most cases, highly ranked employees in an organization are accountable and to control the employees who are below them. A few of the junior employees can be made accountable and to control the staff in a higher rank than them. Boisjoly should be held accountable for the explosion because he did not give any signal of danger until the explosion occurred. If he could have given signs of danger to the people before the explosion, there would be no damages. Doug Ivester ignored the health of employees because they were no justice done to support the employees. If there was any justice for employees, Doug Ivester would have been held accountable for ignoring the health of employees. Corporate Leadership This is the ability of the management in an organization to make sound decisions and influence others to perform well in their activities. This will lead intentionally because sound decisions are made by the management in recommending anything good to be done and those unnecessary to be dropped (Collins, 2009, p. 175). The organization will expand and make great steps ahead through the decisions made. In addition, other employees are persuaded to deliver and improve their services for the betterment of the organization. External challenges Every organization should be ready to face challenges from outside the organization. The challenges include competition from other organizations, spending on advertising, which will not be effective in increasing the sales of the organization. The organization should use the threats and weaknesses in SWOT analysis to think more about external challenges and how to tackle them. Reference Collins, D. (2009).
