Ingram requested multiple department transfers, but was declined. Due to the stress and unbearable work conditions, Ingram ended up on disability in 1998. Subsequently, Ingram filed her lawsuit with 3 other employees in 1999. Prior to the lawsuit, Coca Cola stock was trading at an all-time high until several problems began occurring. More and more information was being made public about the lawsuit and civil rights experts, public relation experts and consumers from all over the world were blaming Coke.

Care Ware, the only Coca Cola employee in management who was an African American resigned which made the situation worse, but Coca Cola executives convinced him to wait another year to leave. Ivestor refused to settle the lawsuit, vowed to fight, and denied all the allegations to the employees and in public statements to the media. As a result, Coca Cola started losing profits, reputation and integrity. The people/organizations and their interests Ivester desperately wanted the lawsuit to disappear to keep company officials, employees and consumers happy and profitable and he wanted to keep his job and financial security.

The company officials at Coke wanted Ivestor to settle the lawsuit because of the potential loss of profits and damage to the reputation dragging out the lawsuit would cause for Coke. The employees of Coke were slow to embrace diversity and equality in the workplace and they wanted to keep their jobs and positions and secure their future. Ingram and the other African American*1 employees wanted to have a fair and equal work environment. They wanted security and stability in their workplace and financial future and wanted Coke to accept responsibility for their negligence.

Civil and public relation experts wanted Coke to act in a matter that was fair to all employees regardless of race and felt Coke was very slow to respond to the charges and wanted resolution for Ingram and the other employees and to have a fair work environment for all ethnicities in the workplace. Consumers wanted to buy their Coke from a company that embraced diversity and treated their employees fairly. The government wanted to see Coca Cola comply with federal diversity initiatives and regulations to provide a safe and fair work environment for all people.

African American people wanted to see and experience equality in the workplace and wanted to have the same opportunities as everyone else regardless of race. African American employees at Coca Cola who felt the same as Ingram but were afraid to speak up wanted to see her succeed and see Coke treat their employees fairly. The dilemma As a result, Ivester was faced with a difficult dilemma. Should he settle the lawsuit or fight which could lead to a loss of reputation for Coca Cola and losses of millions and millions of dollars.

Indecision by Ingram could lead to more severe consequences such as employees, stockholders, consumers and the public feeling that he and Coca Cola do not embrace diversity and that he thinks that Coca Cola should not have to do what every other company requires. This could result in Coke losing profits, Ingram losing his job and financial security and the reputation of Coca Cola being damaged. Ivestor choosing to do nothing and keeping the status quo would lead to more lawsuits that could cause Coca Cola to go bankrupt and would result in his loss of position and financial sec
