? Life after college Introduction Research indicates that college undergo via numerous challenges immediately after completing their college education. Among the challenges include; unemployment, lack of required skills to do the job, inability to adapt to new life after college, higher debts to mention just but a few (Coy, paras2-5). Unemployment may be attributed to adverse economic conditions making it quite difficult for a large proportion of college graduates to secure a job. Additionally, majority of college graduates do not have skills and experience required by employers. This means that, despite having readily available jobs, most of the fresh graduates may not be in a position to get job leading to frictional unemployment (Carol, paras 5-22). Additionally, high numbers of job seekers with similar qualification have flooded the job market creating another significant challenge among the fresh graduate of proving their uniqueness before the recruitment panel (Carol, para10). This study therefore, will investigate the challenges that college students undergo through immediately after graduation. In above connection, the study will focus on unemployment and high debts among college graduates. Challenges student come across after college graduation, including unemployment and high debts Higher education has greatly been attributed to numerous benefits such as; improved standard of living, higher income, increased productivity and reduction in production cost among other benefits. Additionally, numerous states provide higher income to those with higher level of education as compared to those with lower education levels (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, para2-25). For instance, high school graduates were anticipated to receive lower income as compared to diploma and degree holders. However, there have been some variations in respect education to level of education and income. This is because some countries provide less educated members of the society a higher level of income as compared to highly educated. For example, people with low level of education in states such as; Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota received higher income than those with higher education level (Crellin, Kelly and Heath Prince, paras9-10). Connectively, most college graduate faced the challenges of securing a job because most of the courses they took at their respective universities could not correlate with the market demand. This forced many employers to recruit college graduates from other foreign countries (Coy, paras1-6). In above connection, lack of adequate academic engagement such as working while still in college, especially during vacation has contributed greatly to unemployment among the college graduates. This is because through academic engagements students not only acquire new experience but also experience tremendous growth in their career life. This provides them competitive edge of securing a job after completing their college education (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, para17). Additionally, some college students may found that employers are not hiring on their geographical areas and therefore, some may find it quite challenging to move into new areas to look for a job due to housing and income problems (Carol, paras1-5). On the other hand, most college graduates do not make to the interview room despite sending their application. This is because of improper writing of their resumes which denies them a chance to be invited for an interview despite being qualified for a job. However, some who make to an interview room fails to get a job due to failure of expressing themselves properly such that an employer can become convinced that they are the best candidates for a job. Connectively, majority of the college graduate tend to be confused on what to do after completing their college. This is because some do not know where to start (Carol, para5). Research report indicates that most students after graduation lacks financial freedom and tend to rely heavily on their parents because they do not have an income to sustain their lives (Tinto 24). Wheby, most of them struggle to become self reliant after completing their college education. However, they experience housing problems because they do not have an income to pay for the leases and other rental conservancies (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, paras22-24). Additionally, most college graduates experiences the challenge of getting a romantic partner whom they can spend rest of their lives (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, paras27-33).Additionally,, most fresh college graduates lack awareness of both civic and political awareness when entering the job market. Research indicates that most college students do not read a news paper. For instance according to a study report by Roksa, Josipa and Richard, paras34-36, approximate 30 percent of fresh college graduates were reported to read a news paper while 70 percent did not read or showed any interest. This indicates that majority of students graduating from colleges tend to be less informed on current affaires. This may consequently led to unemployment as most of them may not be in a position to handle some interview questions that relates to current affairs (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, para35). The escalating cost of education had forced many students to take loans in order finance their higher education. The loans had subjected many college graduates to undergo via hard economic conditions as they try to finance loans with their little income. On the contrary, those who are lucky to secure a job after college find it quite challenging to leave descent life as they strain to repay their college debts. For example, a medicine graduate named Hamilton, was reported to accumulate a loan of $130,000 by the time he was graduating. Hamilton asserted that repaying the loans was a big challenge to him due to his little income (Coy, para2). Additionally, the cost of debt has been rising significantly as more students especially from poor families’ continue to enroll for college education. However, the number of students who enrolled to college education in 2007 was reported to decline by 19% as compared to the previous year due to economic down turn (Coy, para1). This further led to increase in demand for loans because most college students especially from poor family could not raise the amount of fee charged by universities. The higher cost of education was attributed to economic conditions such as economic cycles, inflation to mention just but a few (Roksa, Josipa and Richard, paras, 22-30). In order to address the above challenges the government and all stake holders should come together to look for measures that can be establish to remedy the situation. Among the suggested strategies include; encourage more investments in order to create more jobs for college graduates, subsidize the cost of education in public university in order to prevent huge loans repayments after graduating, encourage those students who are joining public universities to take careers with more job openings. In above connection, the government should employ economic measure to stabilize the economy and create more jobs (Newton, Fred, and Steve 3-10). Conclusion The number of fresh College graduates who had been entering the job market has been increasing significantly every year. This increase had posed numerous challenges among fresh college graduates because most of them find it quit difficult to get their first job due to adverse economic conditions. Connectively, other college graduates experience the challenges of getting a job because some of the courses they studied at the university do not correlate with the current market demands. However, those who are lucky to get a job face the challenges of financing their education loans due to their low level of income. Additionally, fresh graduate college graduates faces the challenges of adapting to new life after college as they struggle to become self reliant as well as having a suitable marriage partner.
