Dweck, mainly deals with the whole aspect of success and where it originates; the mind. In order for one to become successful, one has to first visualize, plan and then achieve (Dweck, 2008). The mind is set to adapt to changes within a human being and his surroundings. According to the author, the mind is a very strong tool which influences many things. It is also important to psychologists who can use the book to communicate effectively and efficiently with their patients. As the author noted while writing the book, it is true to say that the mind psychologically switches itself to ‘success mode’.

The brain is triggered to do certain actions that might lead to success. In order for this triggering to happen, a certain outcome is expected (Dweck, 2008). The book explains that mindsets occur in two fundamental aspects namely; ‘fixed mindset’ and the ‘growth mindset’. Individuals that believe that their talents and abilities cannot be improved or changed by use of any means have ‘fixed mindset’. Such people are not likely to try out new ideas and challenges for fear of failing in them (Dweck, 2008).

They dwell and believe in their talents more than anything else. For such people, they tend to guard themselves against circumstances in which they are required to prove their worth and growth. They tend to view challenges as a negative part of their lives. Unlike the fixed mindset, people who practice a growth mindset are able to be achievers and achieve more in different fields, such as athleticism and the capacity to do mathematics. A lot can be gained and improved on with much polishing and hard work together with being persistence (Dweck, 2008).

The difference between those with fixed mindsets and those with growth mindsets is that when presented with an obstacle, those with a growth mindset will tend to rise to the challenge. Growth mindset individuals do not fear failure, but view it as a chance to improve themselves. The author here is telling the readers that success comes from one’s mind. Another book, The age of discontinuity written by P. Drucker is a classic piece of writing that has a classic theme. The book offers insights on how the world has turned around, becoming a corrupt place.

The roles that are supposed to be played by certain players are not being played (Drucker, 1992). Before this, there was harmony among people, and success was aimed at making sure that people lived comfortably. Currently, there are scandals everywhere, enmity and bad blood between people. Enmity has spread to the homes of people, workplaces and even destroyed a once successful nation. In the book, Drucker says that the main work of the government is to govern its people but not to try and do things that the private sector would be charged with doing.

The book shows the coming of an age where disunity and lack of harmony characterizes the age that people currently live in (Drucker, 1992).  In any case, success cannot be gotten from a divided state or nation since a nation divided is the weakness that will bring it down. In a world full of changing times and phases, the best option is to live in harmony. This way, a stronger foundation will be formed which will lead to a stronger nation and as it is known; a strong nation is a successful one.

When it comes to success, everyone is involved (Drucker, 1992).  Leading change: stages of successful organizational
