 Enterprise Question 1 An entrepreneur is an individual that has the adequate skills to manage a company, and develop the firm into a highly successful organization. Being entrepreneurial implies that an individual has an expertise in relation to making the right decisions which includes taking risks in the best interest of the company. Entrepreneurial is a term that can be used to describe an individual who has smart business sense in relation to making deals, utilizing strategies, efficient use of resources, and ensuring the right methods and means of managing and operating a firm (Gomez, 2008). Therefore, entrepreneurial implies that an individual must display the ideal knowledge to operate a company. In my case, I have displayed a tendency to make strategic decision. For instance, I use my time to study efficiently, which involves subdividing my time in order to understand how to allocate equal time to the subjects I took. During my time in the university, I did some community work managing the community center. During my time as an operations manager, I managed to ensure my subordinates worked efficiently, which meant subdividing the workload between the subordinates. Another important factor during my time in the community center was being prompt to work in order to create a work schedule which would ensure all the work for the day was accomplished. In some cases, I had to pitch in on the tasks in order to cover for workers who may were unwell to report for work (Kleiman, 2010). Such factors were important in order to ensure that the community center operated efficiently; hence, demonstrating my entrepreneurial qualities. In terms of being entrepreneurial, I will be able to make decisions promptly, which will not put the company in jeopardy. I am an efficient worker, which ensures that I am very reliable in relation to accomplishing tasks quickly and with the expected quality and high standard of the company (Kotter, 2002). I can operate independently without the need for supervision, which is a quality that entrepreneurs possess. This means that I can work independently, but not in a manner that suggests I cannot work in a team. Another aspect of my character is my ability to co-ordinate individuals. In case of any trouble between work mates, I am able to settle the difference between co-workers, and I can organize individuals who are confused or unsure of what they are required to do at any given period. All these qualities are part of an entrepreneur, and I possess these qualities, which will suite and benefit the company. Question 2 In terms of my personality, I tend to put all my effort into my work which turns out to be a major weakness in how I work. My three main weaknesses involve my overworking flaw, over analytical approach and the fact that I hate failing. The three factors have proven to be major flaws in my character and they have proven to take effect on my work and the decisions that I make when working. I have the problem of over thinking a problem as a way of ensuring that the problem does not occur again, or is not repeated (Hamel, 2002). I spend a lot of time working, constantly looking for new ways and measures that the company can utilize to increase revenue which sometimes fosters mistakes on my part. I hate failing, which is why I spend a lot of time working to ensure that I do not fail in anything that I do. Over thinking is a problem because I can spend a lot of time dealing with a problem which can push me to make the wrong decision. It makes me slow in dealing with a problem when it is a simple problem to be solved. My ability to analyze a problem is ideal for problem solving, however, in some cases it is unnecessary and can lead to me dwelling on a simple problem for hours. I have found that allocating problems equal amount of time will aid in eliminating my slow nature of problem solving and reduce my over-thinking problem. (Mulcaster, 2009) Over-working is a major problem because I notice that sometimes I require rest because my thinking ability deteriorates as I become tired. In terms of turning it into strength, time-management is crucial. If I plan my time accordingly, I can accomplish all of my tasks, and still manage to get some rest which will improve my manner of thinking. This strategy can influence my performance and it will aid in avoiding failure in anything I set my mind to accomplish. Question 3 In terms of group work, I can work as the group leader, the individual tasked with structuring a presentation, or the overall group work. I have found these roles to suite my personality as well as my ability (Gladwell, 2000). As a group leader, I can organize team members in order to ensure that people are able to operate in accordance with their abilities and strengths and ensure the best outcome from the presentation. In terms of the organizer of the project, my organization skills ensure that I can structure a presentation or the group work, to ensure that the group or team gets the best result. For example, during our recent group work, I was tasked with the job of compiling the presentation and made sure that the work done by each group member was cohesive with the entire presentation (Johnson, 2008). Upon receiving the work or tasks carried out by each individual, it was easy because the group leader had subdivided the work and informed me of the manner in which they wanted to present the work to the class. Organizing was not difficult; however, I had to take into consideration the different aspects of how individuals worked. Upon completing the structure of the presentation, the group leader was pleased with my work and had no difficulty presenting the group work, which received high appraisal for the organization. In terms of being a leader, we recently had to create a slide presentation and I managed to plan how the presentation would be created. I subdivided the slides into two for each of the five group members, and assigned them tasks based on their strong suites. In terms of compiling, I gave our group organizer specific instructions on how the presentation should be structured. They managed to follow the instructions, which made my work easy when presenting the group work in class. It illustrated my ability to organize my group, into a cohesive unit fostering success.
