?Enhancing Employability The company of my choice is GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). It is one of the leading healthcare companies around the globe. The company is largely dedicated toward helping millions of people to feel better and live long fulfilling lives. To achieve this, the company has invested well over $ 4 billion in research and development. It is an investment that is paying off. It is the leading company in medicine products mainly due to its innovative ways. It has a broad network in over 100 countries with its headquarters in UK. It has a variety of products ranging from lifesaving vaccines to the popular health care products like lucozade, Ribena, Aquafresh, Panadol and others (Tau et al, 2003) GSK as a potential employer is committed to developing people through offering opportunities to graduates that include 2-3 year rational graduate programs and summer placements. GSK ensures career development through various disciplines across an incredible collection of business strategies. GSK aspires to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer (Berry et al, 2004). Trading The strategic priorities geared toward achieving the above are; to grow a diversified global business, deliver more products of value and simplify the operating mode (Beal & Strauss, 2009). The company is listed in the London stock Exchange with a remarkable 5,045,289,662 shares in issue; the shares carry the voting rights in the company decision-making process (Ferrell, Fraedrich & Ferrell, 2012). The boards of directors are responsible for the company’s systems. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the management of the business with the assistance by the corporate executive team. The worldwide business development group is responsible for building worthy collaborations that help market their products (Schatzberg & Nemeroff, 2006). Market Structure The market structure rides on various manageable units. Each region be it a nation or otherwise, forms a unit of the market and is controlled by its own staff and their marketing strategy may differ from one region to another (O’Brien, 2009). The products require uniform distribution. This distribution should take place after branding has been conducted. Another important consideration is pricing. Pricing should be done with reference to additional costs of freight and other indirect costs (Griseri & Seppala, 2010). The money should then be banked and centrally managed. Financial Situation Financially, the company is strong and highly respected in the corporate world. Asset concentration is global, with its presence in almost all continents (Prahalad, 2010). It is liquid to meet its daily cash requirements and capital investments. Owners have received a fulfilling return on their investment in both divided share and capital gains on sale of shares (Smit, Lira & Leurs, 2010). Competition The referred competition is from companies like Nasdac, Abbott laboratories, Acadia and so on (John, 2010). Globally the competition faced by the company is not severe, with reference to its products that rank among the best to most middle level persons the company concentrates much on quality building rather than advertisements (Eggericx & Mikolajczak, 2008). This has helped the company see the light of the day in a time when many local, small companies seem to be coming up (White & Bruton, 2010). The candidate interest in the role of a Finance Officer in the company; the position requires that the applicant must have the following; Several years practical work experience with professional study, Minimum 2:1 honors degree, A Valid UK driving license is preferable. A Full UK work permit for the duration of the program will also be necessary and a good command in English The task involves the ability to think fast, analyze data and make relevant judgment within the set periods. One must also be courageous, display utmost integrity, honesty and clarity of purpose most of the time. One must also be able to make decisions given a complex situation and diverse innovative solutions (Regester & Larkin, 2008). Another requirement by the employer is the courage to embrace change and to lead by example in an uncertain and rapidly changing environment (Hales, Yudofsky & Gabbard, 2010). The role is crucial to the organization since it involves analyzing the investment opportunities, guarding of company resources by ensuring that the company engages in ventures that are risk free and carry a compensating rate of return. The finance officer works closely with the management team (Schatzberg & Nemeroff, 2009). This close relationship will ensure that the investment opportunities tested meet the cost benefit analysis threshold. This will be used to determine their return potential, which reduces the chances of loss on a portfolio (Ortiz & Roffe, 2009). For a company to continue to be relevant in capital investments and daily decisions the services of a finance officer are essential. The economic return on investment is where the return is higher than the aggregated investments. On a daily basis, the investors exposure to various challenges is growing, this pauses as a hindrance to investment. Due to dynamism and other social environmental challenges, the position of a finance officer has proved to be crucial in a healthy organization. It covers resources from input purchases to outputs or finished goods. The growth of a company depends on the prudence of decisions at higher levels of the organization. The most common mistake that a company can make is hiring an individual who is not competent with an aim of cutting on cost since at the same rate do they cut on growth. It is essential for a company to set out for the best individual to fill in positions that are as sensitive as this. To bridge the gap the hiring of a person with interest to the position of Finance Officer is crucial. This is in reference to qualifications and expertise. Possession of the relevant training coupled with three years of training in a busy organization where under the candidates supervision the company’ profits tripled. The candidate holds a degree in finance; this will help work with a lot of ease. A good command in English, although lack of a driving license is a minus on his side. Possessing the right attitude to learning how to drive immediately, he gets a chance to serve in that capacity. My candidate thinks fast enough and can work under various circumstances and make sober decisions within the set limits of time. Being a well founded Christian, possession of attributes like honesty, integrity are essential for a team to clearly understand ones intentions. The permit to work in UK is a minus since the candidate does not posses any rather it is under review by the authorities. The analysis of academic papers and the attributes will assist in making the best decision in hiring. Therefore, it proves that there is a necessity to present a formal request to be considered a worthy candidate for the position of Finance Officer. A good online marketer could be an opportunity since this has not been in use in the company. This is an opportunity to build on higher sales and ultimately higher return on investments. The threat is on the company worth and the shareholder expectations given the performance of the past, traveling to many nations poses a challenge to any family acceptability (Ortiz & Roffe, 2009). The personal development road map is the route to the required competence .It refers to the steps or strategies to apply in bridging the gap between the employer’s needs and the requirement possessed by individual employees. This is to be able to convince the employer that given a specific period, (shortest). The following is what the candidate intends to do to bridge the gap (Ortiz & Roffe, 2009). Deficiency Action Plan Time Lines Lack of a driving license Immediately join a driving school for two to three hours a day in my free time Within 2 months of being hired to be having one Permit to work in UK Immediately apply for the permit. Apply Immediately on submitting an application Understanding the GSK Systems Constantly engage well with people in senior positions together with the juniors in order to gain the required expertise in the blue ship company. Within the first 12 months, must have a thorough understanding of all the systems. Travelling Immediately inform all my people about my intentions and convince them of my intentions Within one week of the application, the candidate has met and discussed with them. Investment knowledge in foreign countries Enroll for a course in international finance and Economics Within the first two months, must have enrolled for the course which would run for eighteen months Personal Elevator Pitch I am a professionally trained accountant with a bias in finance. Finance involves making the right decisions about money and its equivalents in an organization. I have the relevant experience having worked for General Merchants for the last three years until recently. I am able to articulate events on time; this has saved the company legal tassels and even losses. Strong communication skills are also a plus for making me an excellent team player. I am to meet the most esoteric of the company’s specifications. In line with the position that is under consideration, I posses the right expertise to handle all the challenges that come with it.
