Genotype is responsible for different traits such as the trait for sickle cell anemia or that of diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other types of cancers among many other genetic diseases. It is the genotype that is examined to determine whether a child of a parent with any of the above mentioned genetic diseases is likely to inherit the disease or not. The trait of the disease is searching in the body and if found, then there is an indication the child will get the disease. Phenotypes examples include physical features such as facial appearance, the color of the skin, the height and weight among other features that can simply be observed to prove for example relationship between people such as brother and sister (Krukonis & Barr, 2011).
