Relationship between Genotypes and Phenotypes - Coursework Example

Summary
The paper "Relationship between Genotypes and Phenotypes" tells that there are various ways in which similar genotypes can give rise to different phenotypes, as discussed. The other way is genotype-phenotype mapping which is caused by environmental factors…

The environment has a strong influence when it comes to gene expression. For example, the mixture of genes he inherits and the environment he interacts with determines an individual's personality. Various environmental cues can alter gene expression. They are different ions' extracellular and intracellular concentrations (Dawkins, 1999).
Reaction norms could be used to understand phenotype plasticity in a below manner. Phenotype plasticity shows the degree to which the phenotype of an organism is. The response patterns display the relationship between the genotype and phenotype (Dawkins, 1999).

The variability could be structural variations and copy number variations. The difference between broad sense and narrow sense heritability is that the general sense shows the genetic contributions to the phenotype variance of a population, and the strict sense does not reflect genetic contributions. Heritability is measured by the relative contributions of non-genetic and genetic differences to the total phenotypic variation in a population (Dawkins, 1999). The narrow sense heritability and the strength of selection work together in a manner that their response is since they are necessary for selecting.

Important Sex Linked Disorder That Affects Humans

Finally, a cross between two individuals with the disease depends on the genotypes of each.... A cross between a female carrier (Cc) and a male with the disease (CC) would result in 50% of the offspring having the disease, and the other 50% being carriers.... A cross between two carriers (Cc) would result in a quarter of the offspring having the disease, half being carriers and the final quarter not inheriting the allele.... Lastly, a cross between two individuals with the disease would result in all of the offspring having the disease....

Memetics: An Evolutionary Theory of Cultural Transmission

niversal Darwinism uses the strategy of abstracting strange features in organisms and genes taking into account the roles of phenotypes and genotypes.... The contrast between the neuromemetic, monotypic, and phenotypic theories of technology is a modern form of behavioral and mentalist opposition that exists between the new cognitive and the traditional behaviorist psychology.... The core aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the meme has the ability to influence the treatment of human culture and society through the study of the human being in order to bridge the gap that exists between nature and the social sciences as Alvarez describes in his piece of work....
