Coral reefs are important in the preservation of aquatic life since they offer habitat to a variety of fish. Destruction of coral reefs may cause the reduction of fish, which gets consumed by large population in the world.

Red tide is a name of an algal bloom induced by species of algae well known as dinoflagellates. This type of algal bloom exhibits red colour. Local authority for instance at Tampa Bay, are trying to control it by frequently monitoring the bloom and harvest water for laboratory analysis.
