Due Research Proposals Introduction Dubai International airport is the headquarters of Emirates airline organization, in the United Arab Emirates. The main aim of this research proposal is to try to investigate the influence and effects that Emirates airline organization has had on the world’s airlines in terms of quality of services offered. The main research questions that shall be answered during the investigation are: Does the service offered by emirates airline organization meet the standard and expectations of its customers? Does the organization have excellent facilities that ensure their airplanes are always in good shape to ensure the safety of their customers? What are the measures that the organization has put in place to ensure customer satisfaction? The objectives of the research will be: 1) To determine the services offered by the organization and whether they meet the standards and expectation of their customers. 2) To evaluate the available facilities in the organization for servicing and repairing airplanes to ensure safety of their customers. 3) To determine the measures put in place by the organization to ensure customer satisfaction. The intended research on the operations of the Emirates airline is important in determining the experience of the customers. While utilizing their services and the role the airline organization play in ensuring that the customers’ satisfaction is achieved in carrying out this research, I as a student of business studies will also gain a lot of important knowledge on what it takes to run such a big organization that serves many people daily and the various measures that can be utilized in successfully satisfying customers derived from different backgrounds and cultures. Background The emirates airline is an organization in the airline industry that has its headquarters based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In the Middle East, this is the major airline company with over 2500 flights weekly to over 100 destinations in six continents in 74 countries (Emirate airline, 2005). The emirates airline is part of the Emirates group of companies, owned by the Dubai government under the investment cooperation of Dubai (Vespermann et al, 2008). Emirates airline idea was started in March 1985, after Gulf air reduced its flights to the region and was given support by the Dubai royal family (Kingsley-Jones, 1999). During its conception, the airline only had two leased aircrafts that they utilized in their operations (Knorr and Eisenkopf). The first flight of the organization, flight EK600 was on 25th October, 1985from Dubai to Karachi (Kingsley-Jones, 1999). The airline was ranked among the top ten world airlines with reference to the amount of revenue derived and the number of kilometers with passengers and the leading in the Middle East, in 2007 (Vespermann et al, 2008). The emirates airline has over the years become a frontrunner in the flight industry sector due to its excellent services and high growth rate, which consequently has resulted in increased profitability (Vespermann et al, 2008). Emirate airline operates a fleet of both Airbuses, as well as Boeing planes with the main one being the Boeing 777 (Vespermann et al, 2008). The airline has also won numerous awards and honors for their excellent services and efficiency of operations (Vespermann et al, 2008). Methods To conduct the research successfully, qualitative research methods will be used. The use of qualitative research methods has been found to be useful in its use, in market research and other aspects of social sciences (Jessor et al, 1996). In this research, the use of structured interviews of sampled population that have utilized, intend to utilize or know about the services will be used to answer objectives one and three. By use of structured interviews, all the respondents will be asked the same questions in the same order to allow ease of analysis of data collected to come up with reliable results that can be utilized in the research (Marshall and Rossman, 1999). Qualitative research will also be utilized in deriving information from review journals, and other documents and sites, which feature the emirates airlines, its operation procedures and measures put, in place, to ensure safety of customers by regular service and repair of their airplanes and measures available that ensure customer satisfaction. This will help in answering objective two and three. Sample The sample size used in the research will consist of people that have utilized the services of emirates airlines organization or intend to utilize their services. The selected individuals will be taken through a structured interview with similar questions asked to all respondents. 100 people will be sampled using the structured questionnaire to ensure that there is a variety of responses. Initially, a purposive sampling will be used to get a large number of people that have utilized or intend to utilize the services of the organization. From the group selected, 100 individuals will be randomly selected to be utilized as respondents in the structured interviews. By use of 100 samples with a structured interview, the results gained will be easily comparable to derive the required results, and the large sample size will ensure the results derived are not biased. Data collection The data will be collected by use of structured interviews on a sample of people. Review article and sites about emirates airline organization will also be utilized. The answers derived will be written down to be used for analysis of the information gained. The validity and reliability of the data collected will be ensured by use of a large sample of respondents and use of professional journals and recognized sites in the internet. Limitations A possible limitation that may arise during data collection is lack of enough time to fully carry-out the structured interviews. Moreover, respondents’ refusing to participate in the interviews is also a shortcoming. Research timetable Time-period Activity Week 6 Submit proposal Week 7 Literature review Week 8, 9,10,11and 12 Carry out the structured interviews and review articles about the organization from the internet.
