Life and Plants Why would there be no people without plants Introduction As the world has developed the significance of each and everything in the ecological niche has been figured out. Plants play the most important role in the survival of human beings in this world. These plants help to release oxygen in the surroundings which is then used by the human beings to fulfill the basic needs of their body. Without these plants the human beings may die because of the lack of oxygen in this world naturally.

Similarly as human beings cannot exist without plants some even put the hypothesis that the plants cannot exist without the human beings. Both the plants and human beings are said to be living in a balanced state together. The plants use the carbon dioxide released by the human beings to their advantage and release oxygen. The plants have leaves which have a structure known as stomata. This stomata is a microscopic structure which helps in taking carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen in the environment.

Stomata ensure that the needs of the plants are fulfilled by taking in the necessary amount of gases and elements. These stomata are also referred to as the mouth of the plants because it helps in the intake of water, carbon dioxide and oxygen as necessary. It also helps in serving food to the plants by converting carbon dioxide into sugar via the process of photosynthesis. This essay would revolve around the significance of plants in the lives of the human beings (Smith 2010; Corner 1966).Why would there be no plants without plants Plants undergo different processes to produce oxygen and these processes also help to make food for the plants themselves.

While carbon dioxide is converted into sugar by the plants the process of transpiration also takes place simultaneously to release water vapors. Transpiration helps the plant to breathe in carbon dioxide because of the water that it releases. Light is also necessary for plants to produce food and oxygen. In the world today different gases exist together in the atmosphere including oxygen and carbon dioxide. It is necessary that these gases are balanced together so that human beings can exist.

Plants balance these gases in the environment by the process of photosynthesis and respiration. In night when the plants do not have enough light they start producing carbon dioxide and take in oxygen. This helps to balance the gases in the environment and thus help the human beings to exist (Corner 1966). At many instances people tend to ask as to why do human beings really need oxygen for life. The answer for it can be found in the basic physiology of the human body. As human beings inhale oxygen into their lungs it diffuses into the blood to reach different organs.

This oxygen is then used by all the cells of the body to produce glucose which is essential for life. Thus this oxygen produced by plants is necessary for the human beings to survive (Smith 2010). These plants also prove to balance the ecological niche of the world. Many animals survive on these plants and these animals are then used by human beings to fulfill different purposes. These animals are consumed by the human beings so that they can survive. These animals are further used to process goods like leather and jackets.

Plants also help in producing useful drugs which can be lifesaving for the human beings. Cinchona tree is used to make quinine which is a drug used for treating malaria. Similarly digitalis is another drug made from plants which is used in treating myocardial infarction and other heart diseases (Guharaj 1982). If these plants are kept in an air tight box these plants would not receive water, oxygen or carbon dioxide. But these plants can still survive for some days in this air tight box. These plants would die if the conditions persist (Smith 2010).

Conclusion These plants are necessary for the survival of human beings as they help in different ways. They help in producing oxygen and breathing in carbon dioxide in the day time whereas they produce carbon dioxide and take in oxygen in the night. These processes help in ensuring that the balance of gases in the world is stable enough for the human beings to survive. If carbon dioxide increases in the world it would harm the stability of the world and would cause global warming to increase.

Global warming can increase the risk of cancers in the human beings. Thus plants are indirectly helping the human beings to survive in this world.
