The Effect Of Light Intensity On Photosynthesis Of Pondweed Plant - Coursework Example

Summary
The process of photosynthesis is a light dependent process and it stops completely in the absence of light. Plants placed in dark room can be tested for the presence of starch and the result would always be negative. As it an endothermic process, there won’t be enough energy to absorb to conduct the process…

Limiting factors are the features, which affect the rate of reaction or control the process depending upon their presence or absence. The law of limiting factor states that,” Those reactions which depend on more than one factors to be favorable, then its rate is limited by least favorable value of its limiting factors. For the reaction to be at optimum speed, all. factors need to be at an optimum stage.” Concentration of CO2 is one of the main limiting factors of the process, after light intensity.

Usual concentration of CO2 in the environment is 0.03%, and it does not change much. There are places where more CO2 is present and the rate of Photosynthesis is higher in those areas. The more concentration of CO2 in the surrounding faster will be the process. Temperature is another factor, which affects the rate of the process by influencing the efficiency of the enzymes working in the process. Optimum temperature for photosynthesis is between

Effect of cold stress on photosynthesis in barley

Name: Institution: Tutor: Course: Date: Effect of cold stress on photosynthesis in barley PART 1 Definition In every day activities, plants and other organisms undergo various processes for the sustenance of their being.... Within these two points (B and C), there is no effect on photosynthesis rate even with an increase in the intensity of light.... light intensity ii.... Consequently, too much light intensity may damage the chloroplast of leaves: hence, the strategic arrangement of leaves in a plant without any overlaps (Kalman 25)....

Influence of Temperature on the Photosynthetic Rate of Leaf Disks

We discuss the possible reasons for the observed pattern and discuss the implications that the relation may have for plant growth and productivity. Among several environmental variables, temperature has been known to strongly influence photosynthetic rate of plants (Blackman, 1905).... Consequent to this relationship, plant growth and productivity is often limited by extremes of temperature, with either too low or high temperatures affecting the growth and productivity of plants (Rabinowitch and Govindjee, 1969; Govindjee, 1975)....

The Impact of Light Wavelength on Photosynthesis

This study aims to examine the effect of wavelength of light received to photosynthesis.... MethodsThe impact of light wavelengths on photosynthesis was determined by exposing the plant Dracaena to light of different wavelengths then measuring the decrease in carbon dioxide level.... Sunlight as the primary source of light is converted to a usable chemical energy with the actions of green pigment chlorophyll.... This creates an electromagnetic spectrum of light between red as the longest wavelength while violet as the shortest (Farabee, 2008)The light energy that is transmitted and reflected is represented with the colors that we see while those that we cannot are those that are absorbed (Light wavelength and photosynthesis) Light is absorbed through substance called pigments....

Photosynthesis

In this experiment, effects of different colors of light on the rate of photosynthesis will be investigated.... Energy levels recorded in different colors (wavelengths) of light and absorption of light by a leaf are correlated to the rate of photosynthesis.... During… Complex reaction of photosynthesis that takes place in the leaves can be summarized as follows: An experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of color of Leaf discs used in this experiment have chloroplasts and contain the green coloring matter, chlorophyll; therefore photosynthesis takes place in the given leaves under favorable conditions....
