Justifying an Evaluation – Senator Ted Cruz al Affiliation Justifying an Evaluation – Senator Ted Cruz Senator Ted Cruz is one of the most famous personalities in the US. He was elected in 2012 as a republican from Texas. In the history of America, he is the first Cuban American from Texas to serve in the senate. While he has been credited as a one of the most successful leaders, there is sharp criticism on his performance with a number of people depicting him as a non-performing leader. More people have criticized his media portrayal as erroneous and that as a young senator he lacks enough experience to perform adequately. On the other hand, there is evidence that Ted Cruz is a popular leader in Texas and that he stands a good position to become a presidential candidate in future. Evidently, different evaluations provide a different image of the Senator. The purpose of this essay is to justify the evaluation of Senator Ted Cruz and highlight evidence from his leadership. The idea that Senator Ted Cruz has not worked well with the democrats is false and biased. There has evolved an argument that the leader has failed to achieve his goals and that he has not initiated a good relationship with the democrats. While this idea prevails among, it is faulty and Ted Cruz appears to be a victim of circumstances. The failure of the leader to come into terms with the democrats is due to the great tension between republicans and democrats in the Senate. The conflict between the two political sides has persisted from history and still remains a big obstacle to the relationship between the two groups. Ted Cruz is facing this challenge like any other Republican and this is an issue that concerns every Senator. From this perspective, it is wrong to judge Ted Cruz as a failure, since he is working with a problem that affects every person in the Senate.1 To enhance the relationship between Democrats and Republicans is an important agenda that should be tabled for effective performance of the Senate in the US. His media portrayal has become a controversial matter that demands close evaluation. The media has portrayed Ted Cruz as an unreasonable leader who is mad and has little experience in the Senatorial duties. Ted Cruz has particularly been depicted as unreasonable in his pursuance for social security issues that have been tabled in the Senate. He claims that since promises have been for the past 80 years, the government is obliged to fulfil them as part of their commitment to serve the social needs of the people.2 In some occasions, he stood out along supporting various bills such as Obamacare that have fellow republicans have opposed. For acting so bold, the media has painted his image wrongly within the public. Evidently, the claims of the media are wrong and Ted Cruz has shown a lot of commitment in pursuing the needs of the people of Texas. In his public address, he shows that media criticism of Republicans is something common. He notes that the media has always portrayed the Republicans either as “stupid” or “evil”.3 From a close observation, there is evidence that the media has become biased with most of its criticism directed towards the Republicans, who are seen as disloyal within the government. From this perspective, it is clear that media portrayal of Ted Cruz is biased and fails to capture the real character of the popular senator. The popularity of Senator Ted Cruz within the local networks in Texas depicts him as a successful leader who continues to pursue the needs of the people who elected him. In his interviews, Ted Cruz has always defended his actions by expressing his urge to focus on the needs of the people of Texas and to ensure that these minority groups are well represented within the government.4 He has championed for the reduction of government expenditure as a strategy to increase government budget limit and to ensure effective utilization of the resources. The criticism of US government expenditure is an issue that has generated a lot of heat within the society. The government has used a lot of resources but the outcomes have minimal impact within the minority groups. Therefore, an evaluation that shows Ted Cruz as ineffective Senator is biased and fails to consider his reasons for supporting various bills within the parliament. The support that the people of Texas have given to the Senator shows that he is a committed leader who is pushing for the rights of the people who elected him. As a matter of fact, the people of Texas have announced their intentions to select him as a potential presidential candidate in future. Therefore, Ted Cruz is an effective leader as depicted by his popularity and boldness while pursuing the rights of his people. An evaluation of Senator Ted Cruz shows that his bipartisan skills have not worked well. For the past two years, he has served as a minority in the Senate while his performance has been minimal. Now that the Republic is the majority within Senate, his performance remains slow due to his weak connection with the Republicans. This argument is true and outlines some of the challenges that the Senator has faced as a result of remaining neutral and avoiding affiliation to the party that elected him. In various occasions, the Republicans have blamed him for not supporting their course of action during Senate meetings. He has acted independently while trying to defend the social rights of the people.5 He claims that he will pursue his own path as long as he represents the people who elected him even when such paths collide with his fellow republicans. Resultantly, Ted Cruz has had a loose connection with the Republicans which has undermined his performance within the Senate6. Since pursuing issues alone is difficult, acting independently has limited his ability to perform per the expectations. Judging from this perspective, the claim that his bipartisan skills have limited his performance is truthful. In conclusion, the evaluation of Senator Ted Cruz is faulty has presents a wrong judgment for his performance. The idea that the Senator has underperformed is unfounded and provides biased judgement of his actions. There is enough evidence showing his active participation in the Senate, especially regarding his contribution in various bills table in the floor. He has been vocal in social bills that touch on social security issues and has boldly defended his position within the government. Besides, the people of Texas have supported his actions despite the media portrayal of the Senator as an unreasonable person. Media bias is historical and Republicans have fallen victims in many situations. Besides, the rivalry between the Republicans and the democrats has become a big limitation to the performance of the Senator. However, the idea that his bipartisan skills have worked against him is true and there is enough evidence to support such an idea. Notably, his strong stand has led to conflict with the Republicans, who have in turn have stood against him in various circumstances. Since he has a weak connection with the Republicans, he has to face great opposition. From this perspective, it is true that his bipartisan skills have limited his performance within the Senate.
