Task 1
There are three appropriate vendors, which are
1. SAP
2. Oracle /Peoplesoft
3. Infor
The business functional areas that their product supports
SAP covers a wide range of business functional areas with a perfect technology, which is continuously updated, as it is mentioned on the SAP site that "technology is heart of Unilever’s ambitious expansion strategy."
Another SAP business functional area is human resource. Because SAP manage the all human resources through HCM software.
SAP increases its brand value with sustainability management and EHS.
SAP also have business functional areas like asset management, commerce, manufacturing service, sources and procurement, marketing, finance R & D engineering and supply chain.
Oracle also deals with business functional areas by offering services such as business intelligence, business analytics, business process services, customer relationship management, customer experience, enterprise management and fast data.
Infor also covers business functional areas such as making everything using the cloud and maximum IT budget.
The product’s industry focus and what size of business their product supports.
SAP has product categories, which makes business areas much stronger. It can be easily managed with supply chain management and have a cycle which describes how carefully products are handled in SAP.
Oraclealso supports several products which have complete, open and integrated solution like database, application, and Java and enterprise management.
Inforalso supports several products like cloud, customer experience suit and product life cycle management.
How long the vendor has been in the market.
SAPin the market from 1979.
Oracle in the market from 2004.
Infor in the market from 1998.
How fit the vendor’s product is for the company who has appointed you?
SAP is a better option for the company, because it offers more pleasant experience by offering innovative solutions, products and business tools.
There are some other reasons due to which SAP is better product for the company.
SAP offers a range of excellent hardware solutions. Because hardware consists of several servers and peripherals.
SAP offers latest operating systems and very flexible database, handling too much data efficiently.
The data is more secure than any other vendor.
Business processes, procedures and policies have greater power than any other vendor.
The end users and staff members are very cooperative.
And the company is growing day by day, in the same way SAP architecture is more scalable, its architecture is more flexible.
Top management of the company
SAP is much better than oracle and Infor, because following are some selection criteria which can differentiate a better ERP between different ERP.
experience
hardware
network
software infrastructure
resources
product life cycle management
SAP have greater platform and technology solutions[SAP16].
SAP have greater analytical technology.
Application platform and infrastructure of SAP have multiple dimensions.
Data Management in SAP is very effective due to business processes through the power of in-memory technology
Capitalize on new opportunities quickly through in-the-moment contextual awareness.
Control IT costs related to services and projects.
Task 2
Two-Tier Architectures and Three-Tier Architectures
An architecture which is built on the server and a computer which makes request to the server is known as Two-Tier architecture[Sof13].
Figure 1 Two-Tier Architecture[Ari00]
Advantages
Drawbacks
Simple Architecture.
Rapid change not supported in this architecture
Robust tools are available for this architecture.
To make it more secure, it becomes more complicated.
Server and Client having logics have great performance.
Sharing of logic is very low.
Table 1 Advantages and Drawbacks of Two-Tier Architecture[NDL13]
An architecture which consistsof three tires, like data tier, presentation tier, and application tier is known as three tier architecture[Tec16].
Data Tier:A main tier where all data is stored, or a database which keeps all data.
Presentation Tier:It displays each and every information which is available on any website.
Application Tier:A middleware which keeps all the logic. Application functionality controlled using this tier.
Figure 2 Three Tier Architecture[Wik13]
Advantages
Drawbacks
Physical storage is not required for maintaining data.
So much complex architecture.
Migration has greater speed.
Difficult to maintain.
Several developers work independently.
Separation may require speed.
Table 2 Advantages and Drawbacks of Three Tier Architecture[A1W08]
Web Based Architecture
An architecture which is used to transfer information from the database to the user interface over a global network[HLi03].
Figure 3 Web Based Architecture[Tea16]
Advantages
Drawbacks
Cross platform is a big advantage.
Slow speed.
Number of resources are available for improving this architecture.
Not have high control in other computers.
Development cycles are developed very quickly.
Less resources for handling side request without interacting DB.
Table 3 Advantages and Drawback of Web Based Architecture[And15]
Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA)
A platform where several services are collected, and all these services have the ability to communicate each other[Dou16].
Figure 4 Service Oriented Architecture[sai16]
Advantages
Drawbacks
The perfection is this architecture is that it have the ability of reusability.
Too much work is required.
Easy to Maintain.
Management of service is not so easy.
Greater Reliability, means it have the ability that it can easily available at different platform.
Investment in the service oriented architecture is too much costly.
Table 4 Advantages and Drawbacks of Service Oriented Architecture[Swa16]
Cloud Architecture
An architecture in which some information technology professionals are providing some services to customers like cloud application, design, monitoring and management[Mar01].
Figure 5 Cloud Architecture[kha13]
Advantages
Drawbacks
Easy Reliability in cloud service architecture.
Used by number of users, so its downtime mostly very high.
Reusability is another wonderful point in cloud architecture.
It is an open architecture, so it is always at risk that someone can reach at personal data.
Increase in network computer, require equal work like it is a single computer.
It have less control to the user, the reason behind this is that it managed by a service provider.

Task 3
1. What are the some challenges are faced by UPS?
UPS has less technical changes, and less technical employees, due to which integration of new technology is difficult for UPS. Due to less technical changes mostly handling boxes waste the time of UPS to deliver it on correct location. UPS delivering their products through truck while its competitors like Fedex is air-freightCompany. UPS is handling all the data manually, and there are several systems which require redundant process, is also a gigantic challenge which is faced by UPS. Because during manual data entry a single mistake can waste time and cost of UPS.
2. Discuss the system integration solutions at UPS. How does it help UPS integration
new technologies?
UPS must have a powerful infrastructure and transportation system.Because a powerful infrastructure can integrate new technologies. UPS should have a committee which examine the external factors like marketplaces, its competitors and customers. It helps UPS in the way that they can easily find information that what are the best marketplaces for their, who are the best customers for their, what technology is used by their competitors. UPS must have a centralized datacenter. UPS should hire the technical staff so that they can handle errors effectively.
3. What are the benefits of system integration for UPS customers?
When UPS integrates new technologies with their old and legacy system it provide some benefits can make it a top class shipping company.
a) Other companies can also migrate from others to the UPS.
b) Integration also require the technical staff which is essential for UPS.
c) New and advanced technology require for integration which also helps the UPS to create a secure system.
4. What are the limitations of system integrations for UPS customers?
Along with the advantages, there are several limitation which automatically imposed on UPS customers.
a) UPS customers must have little bit technical knowledge to use it.
b) UPS customers’ should possess sufficient knowledge about the latest technologies.
