His article “Herman Cain and Morgan Freeman: Whose comments better fight racism?” explains the different viewpoints of African Americans about the President of United States. The deep understating of GOP candidate Herman Cane and the controversial statement of Morgan freeman about Obama and the political ‘Tea Parties’, show how to eradicate or provoke racism. During his interview with CNN on September 23rd 2011, he made a depressing statement about president Obama and the Tea Parties; which are helping to lift up only one side. The responsive proclamation made by Herman Cain, showed the bright side of the picture with some elements of practicality and luck. His personal experience of race less involvement in Tea Party negated the stereotypes and their claims of racism in American politics. Obama has always circumvented the racism issue and followed the same tactic,as he didn’t respond to Freeman’s statement. The author enlightens the positivity of Government, that the Government has been against the racial prejudices and adapting a discrimination free policy from a long time but individual racist still exists and will be. Therefore America is not a racist country. Otherwise voting for Obama would be unattainable from white people, who believed in him despite of his color. The debate and claim of eliminating racial discrimination have been made by politicians from centuries. Political or influential personalities often are unaware of racial issues prevailing in the society due to their financial and influential status. Therefore a general presumption is made, leading to a biased or neutral conclusion. Freeman a 72 year old, media celebrity known for his powerful and inspiring roles has been considered nutty; when it came to understanding the political events like Tea Parties and their motives. He could have been right about the accusation but didn’t put it right in front of the camera and millions of fans. His personal reputation due to his secret affair with step daughter also became a reason for his statement to be taken understated. The era Freeman, saw in his youth could be a fight for your race, though it is visibly diminished from the surface but still exist. Presidential candidate Herman Cain made a responsive statement which highlighted the race free America and discrimination free presidency. He said” I don’t believe there is racism in this country today that holds anybody back in a big way. Is there some….. are there some elements of racism? Yes”. The close timing of voting and the prudent approach to soothe the racial issue which could become an international issue, helped somehow. But the story doesn’t end here, he also stated the intellectual capability on the subject of Tea Parties might not be comprehendible for Freeman, he better stick to his trade. If assessed closely it seems like Cain thought the capability to reason only lies with the politicians. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
