Download file to see previous pages... Phallocentric concept gives the Hollywood films a new dimension, particularly considering the level of feminism in such films. The authors also talk of women who destroy pleasure in order to advance their feminine ideals in the world though the movies. Cinema has evolved over the years, especially from the late 20th century to the early 21st century whereby it offers a number of pleasures like ‘scopophilia,’ which is the visual pleasure of human attraction.
1. I tend to think that the writers have overplayed the whole issue of feminism, particularly in the cinema industry. In as much as women play a major role in determining pleasure and attraction, the authors’ suggestions may not necessarily be practical to every woman.
2. When it comes to ‘scopophilia’ and ‘phallacentrism,’ I completely agree with the authors about the existence of certain forces that shape the imaginations and thoughts of women that lead them to seek equal, if not more representation than the men.
