Download file to see previous pages... However, through continuous development, the Sung Dynasty presented the best ever refined pottery that was made of a simple design. In addition, the pottery was not as plain as it used to be; there were decorations made using monochrome glazes.
The Sung pottery provides one of the oldest artistic developments in the world history that has retained its reputation over years. The Sung pottery was started being developed during the Sung Dynasty that lasted from AD 960 to AD 1279. Most of the art that was developed at this time was made up of ceramic. There was a high level of development during that period, which saw the development of the Sung Dynasty Ceramics. Of essence to the developers was the aesthetic look of the art as well as well as maintenance of quality standards. In order to ensure this was possible, decorations were done, potting technique applied, vessel shape , glaze and the firing processes were all very important aspects of the Sung Dynasty ceramics (Zheng 10). The monochrome wares brought about a great success for the Sung Dynasty pottery production; the celadon was the most dominant and widely known Sung Monochrome and has been customized to bear different names. However, the Sung Monochromes have maintained a simplistic approach. Below are some of the ancient products.
The Sung Pottery makes up a very important component of the Chinese art history. This period formed a transition between the Tang Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty. Both dynasties had their respective types of pottery that was advanced over time. The Sung acted in a great way as one of the period that creativity was applied in developing the kind of pottery that had been developed in the T’iang Dynasty (Pierson 3).
