In addition, one of the branches of the museum has branched into contemporary arts. The museum plays a vital role in exhibiting history of arts and contemporary arts. Therefore, this paper shall discuss the experience of a trip to the Columbus museum of Art. It shall further discuss some of the collections from the Columbus at gallery. Builidng The Columbus museum of Art was established in 1878, located in downtown of Columbus (Ohio). It is the first at the museum that is register with the charter of Ohio State (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013).

According to the National register of Historic Places, the building of the museum was first built by Session Mansion (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013). Furthermore, it was replaced by the current building designed by Columbus, Richards, McCarty and Bulford (Roberts, 2013). Changes and amendment have been done in the building time to time (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013). The building remained unchanged till 1928, the expansion of the museum is embarked on three phase of the master plan. Architecture The building and architecture of the museum provides an experience of true western culture.

The interior of the museum is infused with the ancient western and modern designs (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013). The halls and conference hall of the museum represent European and American arts. Trip to the Columbus Museum of Art has been one of the most mesmerizing tours. The gallery reinforced interest towards the history of arts (Roberts, 2013). The collection of the gallery develops the sense of innovative journey of art from late nineteenth to present. Columbus museum doesn’t emphasis on the history of art but also includes the present art collection.

The management of the museum has been focusing to provide several opportunities for the upcoming generation (Roberts, 2013). The effort of the museum to promote art among the people of all ages is one of its inspiring features. The museum has also included outdoor sculpture exhibition and classes for children (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013). The objective of the museum is to promote arts among the future generation. During the tour, it was briefed that the museum has expansion plans for the upcoming times.

The management of the museum reports that the museum aims to expand its galleries, auditorium and conference halls for upcoming artists. Collection The collection of the Columbus museum of art has been historically emphasized on exhibiting American and European art (Roberts, 2013). While currently, the museum has established a branch to exhibit and promote contemporary arts. The museum has a collection of historical and modern European arts. Furthermore, the museum has also included modern photography collection in it gallery (Roberts, 2013).

Most of the galleries of the museum are traditionally designed while the contemporary galleries are stark white with cubes. It also has an outdoor sculpture gallery and interactive activities for educating children. Cubism – Picasso The collection of the museum exhibits Cubist painting by Picasso and Juan Gris. This painting is one of the most famous examples of contemporary arts influenced by avant-garde at movement. It is believed that the Cubist by Picasso played an essential role in revolutionizing European painting and sculpture (Scott & Rutkoff, 2013).
