Therefore this thesis will assess in numerical terms using empirical data the service availability level of Cloud Computing. This thesis will also assess in numerical terms using empirical data the performance of cloud computing. Determine the components affecting the service availability of Cloud Computing and their impact represented in numerical terms to the service availability of cloud computing. Determine the components affecting the performance of Cloud Computing and their impact represented in numerical terms to the performance of cloud computing. Determine the cost implication of implementing cloud computing as against in-house or self-owned computing. Recommend the best solution supported by numerical numbers can be adopted by a company to meet its business objective.
In essence, this thesis’ premise will dwell on the following hypotheses: If the performance of a cloud computing solution is equal if not surpass the normal computing solution the total cost of ownership of a cloud computing solution is justified. If the service level availability of a cloud computing solution is equal if not surpasses the normal computing solution the total cost of ownership of a cloud computing solution is justified.
By determining the specific components affecting a cloud computing solution’s performance, innovative designs to negate the cloud computing performance issue can be derived. By determining the specific components affecting a cloud computing solution’s service availability, innovative solutions can be designed into the system.
Cloud computing is the concept of sharing excess computing resources to members of the cloud who may lack if not have insufficient resources to meet their demands. An example of a cloud computing solution is the file sharing concept that shares the disk space and bandwidth available to other members of the cloud. Creating your own infrastructure may not be a good and prudent solution to solve simple requirements such as these.

1.1 Research Background
Cloud computing is a new and emerging trend in the IT industry that is set to revolutionize the way people approach and use computing. There has been an exponential growth in new technologies that have converged to develop cloud computing services.
“As business adapts to changing government and industry regulations, evaluates new business partnerships, and anticipates competitive threats, IT needs to help the business find new ways to respond” and cloud computing helps the business achieve that.
A comprehensive overview of cloud based service models, cloud distractions, big data analytics, cloud computing storage and its architecture is discussed. Cloud Computing Service Models Cloud computing consists of applications that are represented as a service on the web and the provision of hardware / software services provided by companies operating data centers.
Cloud computing offers new way of storing, indexing, and the sharing of information. It delivers the software and the hardware over the internet thus ensuring the delivery of information at a high speed. Consequently, cloud system posses a challenge to privacy, confidentiality, and security of information.
Also it needs less investment in order to adopt a new IT infrastructure for the organization. Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) cloud specifically provides the consumers with required hardware and software resources in order to host their complete software systems and run their business applications.
This emerging trend in the contemporary world gives companies both attractive technological and financial benefits as well as giving them a competitive edge in the highly competitive environment. Cloud computing involves sharing of computer resources, both software and hardware, among many users along connected computers over a network, mostly the internet (Armbrust et al, 2010).
Cloud computing is known for its efficiency and flexibility in producing services that are able to meet the escalating business needs. Cloud computing has a wide range of benefits but it also encounters issues regarding security such as application security, access control, virtualization security, identity management and authentication.
To distinguish, the researchers define Software as a Service (SaaS) as the services provided over the Internet. The hardware and software combine to form the cloud. When cloud service providers bill their customers for only the services they use, the researchers define this business model as a public cloud; the service is utility computing.
Now a day’s many cloud service provider are adopting the trend to provide resources following the infrastructure as a service model.
Cloud computing is a very rapidly and extensively evolving paradigm in the world of information technology and it is basically the
