The company operates in four regions of the UK and is led by the Head Office. Gathering, processing, storage and distribution of information is done manually at the company. Data is gathered through forms collected from customers. Product information is provided to customers through brochures, which are also a form of output. There are 4 insurance providers in the South-East, 2 in the South-West, 3 in the Midlands and 3 in the North. They have to visit customers at their homes to guide them about filling the insurance forms.

Thus insurance advisors directly interact with customers for providing and getting information. Input includes data filled in the forms. The company has to fulfil the needs of existing customers and has to attract new customers. Advisors send the filled customer’s forms to the head office daily in the morning at the head office. At head office, clerks manually interpret the data on forms for calculating Insurance Quotations. Thus processing involves calculations of insurance quotations.

GIC finds the best dealer of Insurance providers and after the Insurance Quotations are calculated they are sent to the customers. The customers who agree with the Insurance Quotations sign the Acceptance Form and send it along with the cheque for a premium to head office. Insurance clerks send the relevant Insurance Certificate to each customer when they receive the acceptance form and payment. Hence the insurance certificates are the output available to the customers. The problem of GIC includes supporting existing and new customers.
