Are terrorists ideologically driven

...Are Terrorists Ideologically Driven? On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda terrorists attacked the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Pennsylvania in the United States. This event put the threat of terrorism on the front pages of newspapers and forced it to the forefront of people’s collective conscious on a worldwide scale. Terrorism is hardly a new concept, it has plagued Britain for almost a century, but the 9-11 attacks represented a ‘new’ type of terrorism. The IRA and Al-Qaeda have both been characterized as terrorist organisations. Though their tactics may be similar, the objectives and targets are...

...The Burden of Vietnam: the Stories of Tim O’Brien In the short story “The Things They Carried,” the Tim O’ Brien blurs the lines between fact and fiction. He does this by naming many of the characters in the story after real people that he served with. Being a pacifist, O’Brien shows a different view of war and patriotism, and this view is quite contrasting with previous perceptions of war, honor, and sacrifice. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, this technique infuses his work with realism. O’Brien uses this realism to develop themes throughout his story, such as the theme of physical and emotional weight as burden. By mentioning the weight of the equipment, O’Brien shows how each character had a specific role and a specific... Burden of ...
