Security Cameras All public buildings must have security cameras within their folds. This is because with the changing times, security has attained aplace of its own within any facility – be it a building or an installation of significance. Public buildings require a great deal of caution and security to come within them mainly due to the fact that nearly anyone can make the rounds of such a building and hence the threat of security breaches is immense to state the least. (Gunther, 2005) With the increase in crimes all over the world, the aspect of security has come to the fore more than ever. It has attained its due place in the present times. Public buildings, airports, railway and tube stations, playgrounds, stadiums and business/educational facilities have succumbed to pressure that has been laid upon them courtesy the terrorist regimes which are doing deterioration at all odd hours of the day and night. (Kwan, 2005) Terrorism has thus come out as the biggest obstacle in the wake of spending one’s life in peace and tranquility. (Casella, 2003) Terrorism demands of people to change their way of looking and expecting something, if they do for that matter, from the government. It has been the case for many years that whenever government within a certain country is in a position of economic and defense power, terrorism creeps up out of the blue and mesmerizes its democratic institutions beyond repair and restoration. The need of the hour on these countries’ part is to fight against the terrorist activities with a stern hand but in a more disciplined and ethical fashion. (Thackrah, 2004) If the same is not done, hatred is the most common of reactions that have been seen for time immemorial for these countries. Terrorism has changed the face of the world. The people of this world have started to feel unsafe whenever they are within a horde and thus different assumptions have started to come about as concerns to the basis of different congregations, events, concerts and so on and so forth. This has really presented a very grim picture of the peace aspect related with this world. (Lutz, 2004) It has to be changed and there needs to be thinking mindset shift within the global populace to start with. People need to understand their respective responsibilities and then echo the same in the light of the different policies and strategies drafted by governments of nations present on the global map. (Oots, 1986) With the growing times, terrorism has adopted a face that is becoming more and more difficult to manage, so much so that the different governments and agencies are falling flat on their policies and lines of action. There are problems left, right and center as far as tackling the terror activities are concerned and this is one of the significant aspects that need discussion in detail. Moving on, one must understand how security could be deployed and made more effective whilst outlining their need within the domains of the public buildings. This is because public buildings experience people from all classes of life and the people are varied and different. (Nemeth, 2007) There are no proper arrangements for security checks and almost anything can be brought inside or exported outside the domains of a public building. A public building is usually dependent on the different people who make use of it and one feels that there should be greater amount of security which must be ensured at all times of the day and night. A public building must not be left on the mercy of different terrorist elements which could play havoc with invaluable life and property and thus aim to create a sense of terror within the pertinent society or region so to speak. (Borchers, 1996) There must be a proper check and balance mechanism in place which understands the rationale behind putting up security cameras and ensuring that these actually work proactively and consistently so as to remove all sorts of ambiguities related with the security loopholes, shortcomings and weaknesses. (Gips, 1998) A public building must essentially have a security camera installed at every floor which would guarantee that in the event of any crime which is committed within the building, the criminals are caught easily be the law enforcing authorities and there should not be any shortcoming on the part of the police to catch the criminals as and when they require the relevant proofs. The law must come into action on its own and understand that a public building needs to have surveillance within its ranks so that this has a positive impact on the way people spend their time within the public building as well as remain contented with the overall security that is around them. A public building must not be left at the mercy of any criminal who wants his intentions to see the light of the day. There must be a proper check on such people who want to create tension amongst the inmates and even the visitors of such public buildings. A safe environment would be ensured by taking such steps within the folds of the management concerns of the public buildings and thus peace of mind within the people would eventually be accomplished which is a very significant point in essence. (Zanini, 1999) An opposing view in such a discussion is raised by people who suggest that the privacy of people would be minimal in the wake of security cameras doing their surveillance acts and checking out on their lives and their movements on a consistent basis. (Newburn, 1998) The argument has some amount of weight in the discussion but then again in the world of today where terror rules the roost and that too in a negative connotation, it would be better advised to stay safe than sorry. Installing security cameras on every floor within a public building might just violate the privacy and the space of the people but would also make them feel safe from the unwanted elements that trigger the terror alerts within any society. (Piazza, 2006) It is for their own good if they feel secure in the very end. Then there is the element of paying additional taxes for getting the security cameras installed in the first place which is also an opposing perspective to having them at all. One must understand that these kinds of taxes are investments in the long run and there is absolutely no substitute for human life. (Wanek, 1978) Privacy within the corridors is an understandable aspect but the people who make use of such public buildings must comprehend the fact that security cameras would do them a world of good and they would crack down on the criminals in a very abundant proportion. (Gips, 2002) In the end, it would be fitting to state here that there is absolutely nothing more important than having a secured environment in place with people roaming about in a free and satisfied manner. The element of terror must be discarded away as much as possible so that a sense of cordiality exists within a public building or any installation for that matter. (Slann, 1987) Crime rates can come down drastically if the public buildings understand their pertinent roles within the domains of the lives of the people who make use of them. The management committees of such public buildings have a quintessential role to play and that too quickly before any criminal spoils their day and makes their lives even more difficult for not only them but also the people who form up as the inmates within the public building. (Roukis, 1983) A great deal of understanding, empathy and tolerance is indeed needed under such a discussion at the very end. Bibliography Borchers, Mark. Building Security Relationships.
