Sales Management and Related Decisions Sales Management and Related Decisions Choosing the right sales manager in an active retail business could make the difference behind success and failure. The right characteristics with regard to the particular needs of the position need to be identified in the correct candidate to ensure the individual chosen is right for the job (Anderlini, Felli and Riboni, 2008). The best option in this case available from the choices given would be Lynn. Though she is a math major she also has experience in the required field and as mentioned is actually a leading expert in the subject at hand.
The need for familiarization with the product is a requirement for any individual in the sales department. The fact that Lynn has a paper that was recently published in a peer reviewed journal displays that she has current knowledge of the material for sale. Another requirement in the sales field is the ability to easily interact and connect with different individuals (Friedman, 2011). The fact that Lynn is good with people can show that she has the needed charisma that could be helpful in the business.
Her only fallback is her competency with the English language which as mentioned is being solved. The lack of a perfect hold over the English language is a temporary obstacle that can be easily surpassed with frequent lessons and practice. The achievements so far attained by the candidate (Lynn) in other areas supports the theory that she will be able to overcome the issue of the language barrier in a short period of time. The appointment of Lynn would be a long term solution to the needs required by the company in their sales department.
