There are many positive and negative consequences of privatization of sports. Some of the negative consequences are related to education, management and human rights. While privatizing sports, youths will get fewer chances for their education as the private businessmen who sponsor them would force them to concentrate more on sports training rather than their studies. Moreover, private businessmen would enforce autocratic management styles as a measure to force the athletes to win competitions. In short, youth athletes may become a profit making commodity in the hands of private businessmen because of the increasing privatization of sports activities. Moreover, privatization may leave many children from low-income families on the side-lines with limited opportunities to participate in competitive youth sport programs (Coakley). At the same time, privatization of sports helps to reduce governmental expenditure in sports activities. Moreover, it helps the athletes to get better training and facilities so that their winning chances will be improved.
