Still it would be academically stimulating to consider as to what will happen if some fine day the cars are banned from the United States. Certainly it will give way to an array of issues and problems. But on the other side of the fence it would also make many people happy. Yet, the reality is that banning cars from the United States will give way to many human, social and personal issues that will take much time and effort, to deal with in a viable and practical manner.
The thing that needs to be understood is that in an American context, a car is not merely a car; it is a way of life (Best, 2006, p. 4). In other words when people in the United States do drive a car, actually speaking they carry their social and economic status on the road. Every American is well conversant with the fact that which of the cars brands happen to be more expensive and as to what does owning a specific brand of car does mean. Many a people in the United States buy expensive cars to show them off as a status symbol or to reflect on their financial status. The other thing is that a specific car brand also reflects on the personality of the owner. Many a time people in the United States buy cars just owing to the message or specific image that a particular car brand conveys.
