VICTIMOLOGY: Rape and Sexual Assault RAPE CULTURE One would make no mistake arguing that it is absolutely possible to change cultural values as well as myth around sexual violence. After the Sexual revolution, the society is much more opened for a discussion of different problems that deal with sexual behavior which provides an effective basis for finding a suitable solution. It would take a combined effort of the social environment to get rid of this kind of negative phenomenon. In addition to that, it is clear that boys and men may responsible for reducing the number of rapes if they stand up to the commonly accepted sexist or discriminatory remarks that that are made by their peers and say that they a different opinion about this issue (Beneke, 1997).

Moreover, boys and men are also able to influence the number of instances of violence against women. For example, whenever they hear their friends making a supposed humorous comment that implies aggressive behavior, they might point out that their close females such as mother or sisters might also be targets of such behavior and they would not like them to be treated like that. Finally, women are also able to contribute to making the change of culture happen. Thus, they might disrespect or decrease the social value of a man who openly expresses discriminatory attitude towards others (“Violence against women-its a mens issue”, n.d.).

Since men usually opt for the getting attention of women, they will feel that such behavior negatively affects their social image and are likely to stop it. Indeed, in this case women will be able to facilitate a change in the common pattern of behavior rather effectively.Having analyzed my local community, I found that a rape victim will be able to do the following in order to get a support: he or she might turn to Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center. It is a great place when specialist will be able to address the personal challenges and help a rape victim.

There are different types of support that are available. First of all, since the center is open all the time, a person will be able to come to it any time of the day or night and spend the necessary amount of time to restore the inner balance. In addition to that, there are trained psychologists as well as nurses who specialize at providing physical or mental help to such a person. The information about this center is easily accessible: it may be searched in the Internet as well as in the local information (“Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center”, n.d.).

In addition to that, there are different signs that lead to the center. What is more important is that this place is well known to the people who live close to it, so they might direct a person who needs assistance this center. As for the suggestions that might be useful for improvement of the above mentioned place is to carry out a campaign in the social networks so that people will be aware and had time to consider this information on their own, thinking about the people that might find this information useful and helpful.
