Secondly, the rate of social change is determined by time factor. People go out of their societies to look for job opportunities after they have graduated. Modern societies experience rapid transition in social change as compared to traditional societies. The third characteristic states that the rate of social change varies in equality as well as competition. Social change is rapid in modern societies while slow in traditional societies. Apparently, social change can be viewed as an essential law. Planned change emerges from deliberate effort while unplanned change occurs with no calculated effort. Traditionally houses used to be built anyhow but in the modern society house development requires a structured plan.
Modernization is the process of an evolutionary transformation from a traditional to a contemporary society (Scott.2006. pg 110). The key features of modernization include: increased technology. An example of this is the emergence of automatic machines as compared to the manual traditional machinery. There is an increase in speed.
