A current counterculture movement is the gay movement. There have been several organizations and movements since 1924 that support gay rights, like the Society for Human Rights in Chicago (1924), the Mattachine Society (1951), and The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) (1996). Congress legalized gay marriage in 2010. Gay rights include gay marriages, child adoption, healthcare, legal protection, property rights, and the like (Gallagher & Bull, 1996).
I find a career in food chemistry and nutrition the most intriguing job. It is the study of the composition, structure, and properties of foods and their nutritional value. I need to do at least MS in chemistry to get a job as a food chemist and nutritionist. Gender does not affect my job at all. My day-to-day life will become somewhat busy because I will have to spend ample time in the laboratory. I might learn more about this career through the Internet and counseling. Food chemistry and nutrition jobs are greatly offered in U.S. and Canada (AACC International, 2011). One obstacle that I may face is computer literacy which I will have to achieve to use creative technological ways to make experiments on different kinds of foods.
