The University of Kentucky usually offers a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program which normally aims at preparing effective and adept social work practitioners who are informed, compassionate and committed to serving the society. In meeting these objectives, ethics, history, and ethics are applied in the program in the course of striving to nurture students with a strong sense of commitment to the value of social work(University of Kentucky, 2005). The program serves to prepare students for graduate education and life-long learning.Social work practice can be broadly interpreted to refer to the application of intentionally designed social work intervention programs to problems of societal or interpersonal importance. It also includes the analysis of behavior or psychotherapy that involves individuals(Deborah, Stephanie, & Bonnie, 2010). Properly designed social work research can significantly promote the development as well as the enhancement of practice methodologies at all levels and in any setting. Students have many different motivations and aspirations in selecting certain academic majors over others. According to Deborah, Stephanie and Bonnie (2010), it can be speculated that a sincere desire to help others, to work with disadvantaged and oppressed populations, along with a wide range of other people as well as social determinant factors affect the ultimate rationale for undertaking a career in social work.
